I looks fantastic Gamma V... however something that would make this game feel more Mario Land would be the ability to spin after you jump and press down, have you consider it? :) Keep your good work!
That seems like it would be unnecessary given that SMW already has a Spinjump. I always saw that Jump+Down move as SML2's version of the SMW move. Besides, I'm not much of an ASMer. A better idea might be replacing the Feather with the SML2 carrot, but that would also require ASM skills I don't have.

I really like your graphics, and the level design seems pretty solid.

Looking forward to trying this one some time!

I'm personally not big on songs using soundbanks other than the original one; feels a bit out of place. That's just me, though.

Ok I get you... and also agree that the carrot item would be a pretty good subtitution of the feather...

Lakitu makes his debut here, but only in barrels, so he won't be too much of a problem yet.

PORCU-PUFFER'S PIER


I don't see any Porcu-Puffers yet, but I don't think I want to land on that spiky coral.


There's one, and it's fire-proof. Better stay high and dry.


No Porcu-Puffers down here. Those dolphins will help you cross that pit of equally painful stalagmites though. Here, I have to thank Alcaro for creating the Tide Interaction Fix patch. This little room would've been impossible without because of SMW's sloppy sprite/tide interaction code. :P

The construction starts at around 1:45. I'm still pretty new to streaming, so there'll be some hiccups. The audio will also cut out from time to time because of copyrighted music playing in the background.

Those chucks look very very similar to SMWCPII's. Inspiration maybe (you can see the difference obviously)?

This is the first time I've actually taken a look at this thread, very nice work you have here, Gamma, it all looks very very appealing. Level designs look incredible, your FG and BG's are awesome to behold and all fit very nicely together, I just have to say, "NICE JOB".

Well, I've finally finished the World 2 castle, so here are the screens!

KAP'N KOOP'S CASTLE


Yes, Mario's graphics have been changed. I was having trouble adapting SMB3 Mario to the 8x8 Tile DMA tilemap, so I switched to the SML2 Hybrid Mario sprite I used for Kola Kingdom Quest.


You just KNOW that shark's gonna jump at you.


The second half of the castle is set underwater and features Fishbones, as well as a lot more spiky coral.


Hope you're a good swimmer.


Here's Kap'n Koop himself. He walks around, firing cannonballs from his blunderbuss. These cannonballs will either just fly forward like Bullet Bills or bounce on the ground. The bouncing ones will stun the ground for a bit, but he doesn't fire them as often as the straight ones.

Gamma V, i have a question for you:
Will your hack features ultimate n00b bosses?
Not insulting your hack, your hack is impressive, however, since that your hack is featured, perhaps you need to hire someone to make the custom bosses for you.
I'm asking this because i'm imagining Tatanga to be a Ultimate N00b boss. Anyway, a battle with Tatanga requires two phases: Tatanga fighting Mario with a gun and Sky Pop fight with Tatanga.
Do you have clever ideas for the final boss (a.k.a. Tatanga)?
I don't know what I'll do for the final boss yet since that depends on what's available and whether or not I can get an ASMer to make something unique. A Sky Pop battle might be difficult because there is a n00b Boss variant in this hack already. The n00b Boss, when made to spawn custom sprites, has caused the Sky Pop to crash the game in the past whenever a missile was fired. I have the other 6 bosses pretty much planned now.

W1 - dahnamics' Splitting Mega-Goomba
W2 - Kap'n Koop (n00b Boss) - Fires cannonballs that either travel straight like Bullet Bills or bounce on the ground and cause tremors.
W3 - dahnamics' Giant Piranha Boss
W4 - Angry Sun (reskinned Fryguy)
W5 - Great Splunkin (n00b Boss) - Spits either Bowser Statue fireballs or Hopping Flames. It's the same boss as seen in my HLDC 2014 entry since I'm integrating that level.
W6 - Ace Penguin (n00b Boss) - Will drop one of 3 types of bombs. These bombs will either explode on impact, create a fire wave a la Sumo Bros. lightning, or freeze Mario for a bit.

Do yourself a favor and don't use this sprite. It's beyond broken (esp. hitbox detection iirc), and overall hard to deal with for the player.

I gotta agree with MP on the hammers. Perhaps if you gave them more contrast in their lighting, like using very light colors for them and the rest of their body being dark, they'd look more like metal instead of plastic. It's minor tho.

Regarding aesthetics, this hack is looking very nice so far, but as for level design, this isn't looking much different from your previous hacks in the sense that you're playing too safe with the levels' overall structure. It'd be nice to see more crazy gimmicks with sprites and also irregular landscapes, so each level would have a more distinctive feel. It's your style though, and I know many people enjoy it, but I'm putting my 2 cents in this anyway because I have a feeling that your levels could be a lot more interesting without deviating much from your style. It's still looking nice, though, so good job. #wario{:peace:}

There's a Fryguy boss? I forgot about that. There even seem to be two of them, but I'm not sure how accurate to the originals either of them are. Also, I could probably whip something up for the final boss (and bonus boss if you have one, depending on what you're looking for.
