How Do I Add My Own Custom Soundtrack?

I have the audio editor open on LazyShell, and I see where it says import/export SPC's.

I was thinking to myself, "Awesome!" Since SMWC is loaded with SPC's. I thought it would be easy to import the data and make my own soundtrack.

When I attempt to do this though, it asks for data files and not SPC's.

Sorry if this is n00bish, but I'm confused and could use a point in the right direction.

The Audio editor can export, import, clear, and playback the audio samples used by the SPC engine. The .wav files can be edited in a third
party program such as Audacity. SPC data can be edited in a variety of
ways, allowing the user to create entirely new pieces of music.

Maybe this will help? I dunno...

Well, I know all this. Here's where I'm at...

When I try adding music (.txt, .spc, or .mml) LazyShell will accept the new audio track, but it asks me whether the track is native to SMW, SMRPG, SMW Overworld, or "Other".

I mess around with these settings, but no matter what I do the audio comes out sounding off. Sometimes crackly, sometimes missing notes, etc.

I'd love my own custom Mario RPG with custom SNES tunes (I really don't like SMRPG's default battle theme), but I'm kinda stuck at the moment.

Thanks for the response though.

Yeah, I don't know why it's listed as SPC, it's clearly a .dat file it imports/exports. It just has to be worked with.

As for importing and making tracks, unfortunately due to the format of most .mml files on SMWC, LS can't read it correctly most of the time. I've only gotten a handful of tracks to work from here.

If you want a reliable way to import accurate sounding tracks, I recommend using this guide I wrote a few days ago. The tracks lack instruments and loops, but the whole song is very accurate to the SPC.

I hope this helps.

Thank you!

You can import the Text File into the MML source as a Super Mario World File...you must then tinker with the samples so that the sounds sounds like you want it to. I've done this 3 times.
