Social Media Accounts

This thread will serve two purposes. Firstly, it is a list of all of the official SMW Central social media accounts. Secondly, it is a place for you to give feedback on how social media is being handled, or suggestions for changes you would like to see occur with the accounts.

OFFICIAL ACCOUNTS:

The above accounts are official. We may expand to more social media outlets in the future, but for now anything not on the above list is not an official account of SMW Central.

Now, who is in charge of these social media accounts? Well, everyone who is a member of the Staff and/or PR Team can access these accounts, but I have taken on the responsibility of being the one behind general social media. If you have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to use this thread or PM me about it. I welcome all of you to share your thoughts so we can make our social media work better for everyone.

Youtube:
-Bring back the news!
-Video Tutorials. (or more Howto basics)
-You can't read some of the text in the Avatar. (I can barely read the SMW Central)
-Thumbnails
-This was pretty cool, I wonder why nobody does this anymore

Facebook/Twitter:
-MoM and Staff Spotlight Updates
-Maybe Mario Maker / SM64 Spotlights?
-Announcements of Contests (Official and Unofficial ones)
-Results of Constests,Votings,Mosts etc.
-Anniversarys (User X has been a Mod for X Years, User X is has been Active for X Years)
-Status Updates on Teamhacks (Namely Mortons Empire,SMWCP2,SMWC Island,SMWCX)

1) The news is a hard thing to cover since you're really just repeating whats on the front page and it just seems really redundant if you only do it once a week. Now I'm not saying the news won't come back it just needs fine tuning.

2) Tutorials are a thing that will continue (at least the howto basics) I've just been busy with life to be able to plan them out and record them.

3) I will look into creating a new avatar that you can read the text on of at least abbreviate it to SMWC.

4) Thumbnails weren't an option until recently.

5) Let's Moderate videos are more or less LPs and thus have been decided against unless that changed somewhere that I'm not aware of.

MotM/SS – I wasn't sure this was worth promoting, but after thinking about it a bit, it is. I'll make sure these get posted from now on.

SMM/SM64 – Interesting idea. I think we could do a bit more to promote the non-SMW stuff in general. I'm going to bring this up with the mods of the other games' stuff and work on getting something up and running.

Contests – The plan is to do this. I should start doing it for the VGM guessing contests too, though.

Anniversaries – To be honest, this would be hell to keep track of, and there are anniversaries every day. Not really sure this one is worth it.

Team Hacks – Good idea. I'll bring this up to the leaders of the team hacks.
Rename the YouTube Chanel to just SMW Central.

Let's moderates are more entertaining to see than reading removal logs, as long as it's focused on removal reasons and ways to improve a hack (and not just some random LP) it can provide some useful inisight not only for the author of the hack but for everyone who watches it. I'd really like to see those back.
I did have a conversation with Ninja boy awhile back about some of the old videos on the channel and when we discussed about Lets Moderate, I recommended the idea of two or more moderators taking apart a moderated hack, showing what they specifically look for in a hack and to show the different perspectives of the moderators that would take part in the videos. While i believe that Ninja Boy was open to the idea, we did agree that this would certainly require more editing, let alone willing moderators that would want to take part in the idea.
YouTube name change was a no brainer, and I'm not sure why we didn't do it sooner. Fixed now.

As for the Let's Moderates, I'll talk to Eternity about it and see what he thinks, since he's the hack section leader.

I can agree they can be more fun to watch then just looking at a removal log, looking at the past let's moderate videos most of them have the mod not actually taking time to look through the entire level to make sure everything is working correctly (granted those could of been made after already playing through it and doing a write up). the other thing I noticed is if you make different episodes it really does just turn into an LP, yes an LP that focus on design but an LP nonetheless.

Personally I won't be doing any but if any of the other hack mods want to that's perfectly fine and I'll help upload them if they have any issues with it.

~edit~

As Richard Nixon pointed out I am open to doing a mystery science theater 3000 esque type of video but it would require a lot of planing, editing and willing mods along with figuring out where the video for the hack would come from in the first place, like would one of the mods film it or would we get a third party to make the initial video.

If one of the mods could record a commentary, I could help out with the video Stuff (like showing graphical errors, major complaints or bugs in short clips).
I would suggest to only do Videos on certain hacks with long removal logs. (examples: 1,2,3,4)
Things like "this is a ROM File" or "Crashes on Accurate Emulators" shouldn't be recorded because they would result in 10 second Videos.

Well, this is depressing.
