In the center of the amalgamation lies a machine that controls the reality of the worlds around it, formed from game consoles, screens, cartridges, disk drives and mysterious technology all fused together by an unknown creator. That machine is known as the Amalgamation Engine. This engine lies inside the bubble of amalgamation, and the entire universe simultaneously exists as programming and coding inside of that machine. At first, the worlds created by the machine were separated, and went their usual course. However, it wasn't long until the beings living inside this reality started to realize the nature of the place they existed in. A few of them learned to manipulate the coding to jump between worlds. Those with good intentions shared the knowledge and bounties of their world with the new ones they discovered. Those with worse intentions stole powerful magic or technology from other worlds, and used it to dominate in their own. This, however, was not what the system was programmed for. As it tried to make up for the crossing of worlds and powers, the system slowly became corrupted. The center of the world transformed from a protected sanctuary for the machine, to a maelstrom of chaotic amalgamation. Whispers were heard of a plan to reprogram the machine to fix the glitches, but no heroes heard the call. Others, however... Realized the machine could be programmed for their own dark purposes.

Exdeath was the first to be called to that power. A Nihilistic, megalomanical and immensely powerful being, born of evil souls and the power of the void, he used the powers of the amalgamation to conquer his world, and set his eyes to the Amalgamation Engine, in order to harness its power and send all things to the void. His army clashed with the engine's defenses, leaving them damaged and weakened, but he was eventually defeated by mysterious figures upon the top floor of the spire which lies in the Amalgamation's center. Those figures erased his data, his being too dangerous to leave intact, and placed a seal using the crystals from the world that he came from to ensure he couldn't return. The damage, however, was already done. The raging battle had spread the damage beyond minor glitches, starting a chain of events causing the reality generated by the machine to slowly decay around them.

Now, destiny plays its hand, and amid the chaos, heroes and villains arise. Though nowhere near its climax, a new book in the story has begun, a tale of the cataclysm in the amalgamation that by the hands of those chosen by destiny may be averted or change the world of the amalgamation engine forever.

PLAYER GUIDE

Keep checking here as the story unfolds~
Considering this is the resource thread, I figure this is the best place to put this.

So I'm thinking of overhauling the player statbars based on the players' input. I designed them to be compact and simple, but they might be a bit too compact - I've recieved complaints that there isn't enough space for status effects at the bottom of the card. Personally, I think that's what abbreviations are for, but still. So, I want everyone who gives a shit to tell me what they want to see in Amal's statcards. Size, art style, space for information (in pixel measurements if at all possible), layout, etcetera. I'll come back in a week and see who's responded, and make something based on that, even if the style turns out to be on a per-character basis.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.
I would like to give my full suggestions.

A: There isn't enough room for a bunch of status effects for all players. If we could get the room for it, it'd make everything a hell of a lot easier.
B: Perhaps the stats could also use less room?
C: If the character cannot use an MP bar, or does not have continues, perhaps we could use those spaces for another thing? And maybe the continues could not be associated with character stats?

This is pretty much all I can think of that would be of importance. The only thing that wouldn't be would be decorating the statbar a little to make it a little fancier and not just a drab gray background.

The statbars really needed to be expanded, both to have a little more room for stats, but much more room for status effects. In the last battle in Falconpunch's game, there could have been a whole second row for status effects and there still wouldn't have been enough room.

Other than that, whatever is fine. The current statbars are pretty functional.
It's been a bit longer than a week, huh?

This exists now.
