I knew about the deadline.. and I guess I might design the title screen unless you can. Don't expect anything new or flashy, because I don't know how to make a title screen with new graphics instead of the ones SMW has.

Who wants bonus points? I may have finished the title screen:

but the thing that's missing is the intro video. Can you stand up to the challenge of making an intro of an easy kaizo level that I'm designing as you read this post? You have to clear it with one shot I think, and that's actually pretty difficult enough. So, who wants to make the title's video?

I'm pretty sure you can use savestates, since the intro uses the ASM from the ZSNES movie...

I guess I should explain my level (Haunted Path) since I know the judges will complain about it being impossible. But it is possible, since I've beaten it. It's just that you have to think differently while playing the level.

there's a reason its called the hard contest.

I've let several people play my level and they couldn't even beat the beginning of the level.
And there are minor techniques needed to beat the level. I thought people could figure them out themselves but I guess I'll have to explain them.

To move at the same speed as the boos your in between make sure that
1. ur not holding down y(the button that makes you run.)

(the next part is hard to explain)
2.usually to walk or run you hold the direction button down( in the direction you want to move) for as long as you can until you want to stop. To move at the same speed as the boos to not get killed you must press and let go of the direction button (in the direction you're going) repeatedly at a steady pace and you'll follow along in between the boos.
(my level involves techniques unorthodox to mario games and that's why I believe people have such a hard time with my level, the judges would say that the level is impossible. But thats why I'm explaining this everyone.)

next, the where you spin jump on the boo, it's actually pretty easy.

It does not rely on luck. If you very lightly tap the jump button continuously until ur done spin jumping, then you'll safely pass that part. The only hard part to this is
1. landing the first spin jump

2. keeping up the pattern with the jump button

3. if you tap the jump button too hard, mario will jump too high and will run into the other boo.

timing is also very important to the whole level.

I'm sorry if I confused any of you with the instructions, I explained them the best I could.

and my level is beatable because I've beaten it.

how about we use dots' tileset for the intro and unknown's level? I think having a custom intro level would make the hack more exciting by a few orders of magnitude.

For death blocks, we will be using name's I think. They look the best (to me at least).


Also, I think that if under 1/4 of the people here can't beat your level, its too hard. It's alright for the contest if no one but you can beat it, but not for the hack pack (hey, that rhymes!). For the pack, we're aiming for difficulty, not impossibilities. Say, take Drugged Mushroom's level (no offence). I'm playing on /15 speed, and I still can't beat the first couple screens. This would get a very high score for difficulty in the contest, but probably not right for the pack. I looked through Lunar Magic, and saw the next couple rooms, and I saw some rooms that would be great for the pack.


Overall: If your level is TOO hard, I won't put the whole thing in, but I WILL try to put in as much as I could that will still be okay for the hack.

Then my level isn't making it in, my level is nearly impossible so I'll put a different level into the hack

if this contest is for levels like kaizo then why are people being so easy going. There are supposed to be levels as hard as my level Haunted Path but people keep talking about things like too hard.

This contest went a bit off

(it went from "kaizo hard" to "hard but not as hard as kaizo")


Kaizo
