No, we didn't. Personally, I like it. Just like they left a bunch of hints that Lelouch could be alive but never actually showed it, so you can go pick whichever version you prefer. Even in interviews, they never clearly said he is dead or alive.
One doesn't need all the answers to appriaciate a good show :D

Still, it was kind of contrived how they censored out her name in R1, what with the conveniently timed water droplets and all. That made it seem like her real name was going to be like, super important or something only for it to just be left hanging at the end. Originally the writers might have planned to pick up that plot thread, but had to cut it due to lack of time plus having to pretty much change the entire plot for R2 due to the show getting moved to a different timeslot.

And I think it's fairly clear that the intended ending is for Lelouch to be dead. The staff even said that while they were many points of disagreement about where the plot would go, the fate of Lelouch was one thing they pretty much all agreed upon. Still, you can imagine whatever you like I suppose. It is deliberately left open, after all.

One's thing for sure, this was a damn good show. Will definitely go down in my list of "best, most memorable anime" I've watched. A modern day classic.

So apparently I somehow skipped episode 7 in R2 by accident when I first watched the series. I only found out upon reading an analysis of a scene from that episode (
Lelouch's creepy almost-kiss with Kallen
) and was all like, when did that ever happen? Then I looked it up and realized that I'd somehow managed to skip over an entire episode without noticing. It wasn't filler either, the episode was a big turning point for Lelouch as it when he realized that
he isn't fighting for the sake of Nunnally alone
as well as when it was first revealed that
the one C.C had been having her telepathic dialogues with was Marianne
. Because I skipped that episode, the same reveal came as a total surprise to me much later in the season.

I'd actually wondered several times while watching the series if I'd skipped an episode or two since certain little scenes that I'd heard about never seemed to come up (namely Charles's speech where he calls the Ten Commandments "lies" and Lelouch freaking out and ordering some dude to bark like a dog). And what do ya know, both of those scenes were in the episode that I skipped. Oops.
