I'm doing a fangame project thing, and I recently assembled some numbers for the HUD. That's nice, but now I need to turn them into a font for use in Game Maker. So far, the drop shadow (hard to see, but it's there) has given me problems because it's a different color. I'm about to tear my hair out from exploring options, and need some help. Any suggestions?

Now, it's been a loooooooong time since I last used Game Maker, but if I remember correctly, no fonts can have shadows in then unless they added an extra option for that (which doesn't seem to be the case). Normal font files can't have different colors, so naturally GM doesn't support those either.

The solution I see is to (somehow) use it as a "tile" instead of an actual font, and implement it into a custom HUD that way. It'll probably be an annoying workaround, but it's the only idea I've got.

Luckily I know Game Maker. Your best bet is probably to make it a sprite with multiple subimages and draw it with draw_sprite()

I could swear there was a function that took a string, a sprite, and some other stuff, and rendered multiple frames of that sprite after each other. It was documented as good for fonts.

But I haven't used Game Maker for the last six years or something, so I don't remember its name. Nor do I know if it's still there, I never left Game Maker 5.
