Tip: Try sketching out ideas for overworlds and levels. Even if they don't manage to fit into Lunar Magic completely, at least you have a base to work from, instead of doing it all from scratch.

Very nice for a beginner like me, because you have all your resources in one place! :D

Yay, I can extend my ASM knowledge.. BBS your not a beginner in my eyes.

Kawaii !!

That generator I made was the first thing I've ever done with ASM. O_o As far as ASM goes, I'm a beginner. >_<

Still, you have much potential.

Lol, hopefully these will help me to learn asm. =)

offtopic: 1000th post!

Just back here to browse a bit.
I just noticed this in the wiki:

''When/if this tutorial is finished, it will show how to use the Super FX chip, which is included in 8 released games, most notably Star Fox, Doom, and Yoshi's Island.''

I have the feeling, if we learn how to use that FX chip, we can have much cooler effects than HDMA o_O
*tries to understand stuff about it and keeps a clean rom ready*

EDIT: I didnt understand any single thing of it! maybe I should search for some Super FX chip tutorials.
EDIT2: More ASM tutorial! Clicky! I will aslo edit my 1st post.

My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
A romanian person could not understand these opcodes too easily and ASM is also hard. But I'll try to understand them. Still, it would have been better if some of these tutorials would have been in German, Spanish, Romanian.
The SFX is fully documented in the SNES dev manual which you can find on RHDN. Apart from there, I don't really know where else you can find good info on it. It's set out where you have a much more efficient way of plotting pixels (specify your raw X and Y coords, no tedious tile work). It outputs the raw tiles to the game's sram and you copy it from there to the video memory for display. Apart from fancy sprites (YI!), I can't see much being done with it without some really off the wall hacking. Then again if someone knows the SFX and SMW well they could probably accomplish alot with it.
http://knuck.shagafag.net/SNESDevManual_OCR.rar SNES Dev Manual in OCR. Made by a friend of mine. NOT me.
Alright. I'll add it to the list.

IMPORTANT:

People who found a document that is not in the list, please post it here. I will add it to the list.

This thread makes me want to cry. Do yourselves a favor and just add this link: http://www.romhacking.net/community/548/

Anomie might not cover absolutely everything under the sun when it comes to SNES hacking, but his guides are the most authoritative you'll find on nearly every aspect of SNES emulation and programming. They may not be the easiest to read, but they are accurate, up to date, and full of information other guides leave out.

edit: The register document is the one that most people are going to get any use out of. The memory map document, as well as the s-dsp and spc-700 docs might be useful for even more advanced programmers.
Added. Really useful information out there.

Going to close this thread incase there will be useless posts. Any new documents? PM me so I'll add it.
