SMW Auto Level Contest: RESULTS!

This was definitely an interesting contest to judge. It was like watching a bunch of little mini-movies - some were horror flicks in which I cringed and cried, and some were action thrillers that kept me at the edge of my seat. You all did rather well, with the average range being 70%-80%, but what you really care about is who won.

Special thanks to Kaeru, and Kawashiro Nitori (Crystal King) for judging!

THE WINNERS OF THE AUTO LEVEL CONTEST ARE:

1. x1372: 35.5/40 - 33/40 - 39.5/40 - 108/120
2. SL: 35.5/40 - 36/40 - 34.5/40 - 106/120
3. Boingboingsplat: 34/40 - 35/40 - 34.75/40 - 103.75/120

Congratulations to you three. You will each be awarded with a badge to prove your skill in making auto levels, and a place in the Trophies section on the sidebar.

As for the big breakdown of things, I have hosted the three judges' scores here, along with a grand total for each user:

Kaeru
K.N.
S.N.N. <- use Wordpad

And the totals (copy and paste the link:

Congratulations again to the winners, and see you all at either the Overworld Designing Contest, or the 2nd Annual Mosts!
Congrats to everyone who won!
I have a feeling I would have gotten a higher score if I sat back and got a better idea of the competition. :(
Well, congrats to the people who did win!

Oh crap, I didn't make it.
Anyway, congrats to those who won. You really did a great job, there.

I have no idea where the glitchy GFX at the start of the forest level are. Switch are directly coming from MvsDK except with 1 color of shading removed(to make them fit with SMW's default pallete).I assume that you considered them fitting because they use the standard SMW's pallete insted of the MvsDK's one. they also use 2 frame insted of 3 in unpressed mode. the fuzzball is truly a reflecting fireball, it's used as a timer to change the state of the switch once Mario reached the end of the current platform(like pretty much every stuck sprite in the level).
Wow, thanks everyone. I'm kinda surprised to have won this, just having watched bio's and boingboing's entries on youtube made me think that my level wasn't going to make top 3. I don't suppose there's any plans to make a youtube video that is a marathon of these? Seems that would be far more efficient than a combination hack this time, since a lot of different custom blocks/sprites/graphics/patches probably went into different levels.

I got a few comments on glitched graphics. Can you please point out where specifically this occurs? I couldn't spot it myself, and since I intend to include this level in my hack, I would like to have it as perfect as possible.

Also, I'm kinda surprised that the one thing that made me think my level was unique didn't get commented on at all: The level looks and plays just fine without being automatic. In fact, a few of the "boring" parts such as the "bottom of the screen" section were made that way specifically because I was trying hard to make it less obvious that those areas existed to someone who played through the stage normally (especially since you have to be small to even access them).

Anyway, here's a link to the youtube vid of my level. Doesn't look that great thanks to youtube's compression but it gets the idea across.

Wow! I certainly didn't expect my level to win, but I'm kinda surprised it was rated so well. Thanks to the judges, and congratulations to the winners!

Can some one link to the winning entrys on youtube? :/ Or where I can get the patch for them.
Do you mean this? All of them doesn't work, though.

this don't happen with mine(just look at the youtube video)... do it also happen to the other reviewer?

the glitch may be caused by the DMA used for the switches, are you using ZSNES 1.51
It was the rope conveyor belts that killed me. :P Still, I placed 6th, so I'm at least glad the judges liked it.

Congratulations to everyone who won!
Congratulations for the winners, hopefully they'll share some videos with us?

As for me, 83.25/120, I'm pretty happy with that.

It also happened to me, and I lowered your appeal score because of that. =(
I was using snes9x.
I tried and it still look fine in SNES9x 1.43, I also copied and patched my SMW ROM and it still looked fine... I have absolutely no idea why it happened
Congratilations to the winners, congratilations x1372! Congrats to everyone who participated too. I am glad to the way that the judges described my level, and yes, it was pretty small, I'm going to get better in the next official contest (I hope).
Man, i thought Bio's was gonna win... >_> (weird glitch, though. ?_? )
I'm a little dissapointed i didn't win but hey, I did pretty good, didnt I?
Also, congrats to the winners! Nice job! d-(^_^)-b
(I got 9th place! ^_^)

Congrats to the winners. I hope there will be a second chance to earn a Badge.

But I have some Questions about my level: Which note block glitches did you (S.N.N., Kaeru and Crystal King) mean exactly? And sorry about the pallete I used in the castle part. I thougt lava-orange would be cool.

well, see you in the next contest.

so yeah, hoho
