So, now that you've skipped this, checked out the results of C3 and gambling, I think we can talk buisness (don't tell me you didn't).
As you might know, I've spent A LOT of time on this C3. Coding JackBot was one thing but in the end I also had to draw everything myself and given the fact that I'd see it as an insult to artists if anyone called me that, it was a lot of work. Especially the site scheme, which made 3 other artists run away. The badges too, after looking wide and far for someone who could draw some. That said, the cards you saw in Blackjack were actually drawn by Lui37 and had some aftertouch by ninja boy. As for the badges, in the end, we had multiple designs and had a small vote as for which to use. So I also thank Tahixham and Scewer for their work, even if it wasn't used.
Likewise, I wanna thank Eevee for drawing a new slot machine which also wound up unused.
The event certainly exceeded me every expectation. I remember us talking on IRC about how much coins all the badges should be worth, with the original idea of 6 badges for 100.000 coins.... and we actually thought THAT would be hard. Though not just the amount of coins won was astonishing but also how, for the lack of a better word, addicted a lot of people became (myself included).
There was some talk about it overshadowing the actual C3 and while I certainly can't deny that, I don't concider it that much a problem, given that C3 still goes for about 2 weeks or so after the event ends. Even if you're distracted during C3, you'll still be able to post afterwards, which also happened.
On the other hand, the gambling almost causing DDOS like slowdown on the site... that is certainly undesirable. So we'll have to concider something less site-reloading heavy next time.
That all said, my goal for this C3 was an event that everybody could enjoy, unrelated to the actual C3 content or whether you had anything for C3 ready or not. As far as that goes, I dare say I succeeded.
So, with all that in mind, we'll try to create a similiat atmosphere of excitment for next C3, but not something that completely kills C3 (or the site while we're at it).
