This is going to be a level where you traverse themed sections of fortresses. So far I've done the fire section and part of the rock and ice sections.





You can watch an earlier version of the fire section here. Since then I've changed the note blocks to regular blocks, sped up the autoscroll, removed the floating fires, added more coins, and changed the background color.

Feedback is greatly appreciated! Hopefully I'll finish this soon.
I liked the look of this level (mainly the second section). It looks fun and well designed. Let's wait to see how this will end up...

Another auto-scroll level!

It could be just me, but the reds in the first screenshot seem a bit too bright. The background, specifically, should be a just a bit darker than the foreground, but this is only a suggestion.

Also, it is a great idea that you are implementing various themes into your levels; very unique! Good luck!

Looks good for a newcomer, but the red in the inner section is too bright, the outside section looks creative, good work.

Palette's a bit bright in the first two pictures
I would darken the background of the red castle part or make it a different hue.
The outside night castle looks pretty cool though!

Is it just me or is the palette in the third screenshot ugly? I think you should make it better.

It's not bad, but really red and the bright colours are a bit oversaturated IMO. I suggest to tone down the saturation a bit and make the brown background pura black. You can also make the castle bricks a little more brown-ish or orange-ish, so the level won't look too red and it will still keep the "fire theme".

Just a suggestion.

Kinda confused now, are those terrible palettes everywhere on purpose?
You do seem to care about the aesthetics (what with all the little grass details and even making a new tileset out of those castley tiles), so I don't think you'd miss stuff like the red and blue being wayyy too harsh on the eyes or the strange green lighting on your weird beige blocks and platforms...

I agree with leod, the palettes need some work. The blue is again oversaturated. Tone it down a bit, it would be more eye-friendly.

That definitely looks better, but do the FG and BG have to be the same colour? I would assume that colour-themed rooms are what you're going for but the other screenshots aren't the same way. Some more variation would be nice.

Otherwise it's mostly black backgrounds, with the Layer 3 windows having the same palette as the FG but darker.
Yeah, much better.

The trees and bushes do clash with the rest of the ground. They're bright, while the rest is darker. I suggest to make them darker, like the rest of the FG and the BG.
(I was referring to the starry/castle screens)

I personally think that looks nice, but I have a feeling someone's going to complain about how the FG is all bright and stuff but the BG is darker and don't fit together very well. I'd say darken those canopies and such just a tiny bit and leave it at that unless someone else still has an issue with it.
