Yes, it's post 7000. Well, the only reason it is is because I can't work on my hack until we have a better Sprite Tool.
Welcome, one and all, to the latest Video Game Music Guessing Contest. You probably already know how this works, but if not...you pretty much try to guess video game music, based on a short clip of the track (usually 30 seconds long or less). Yeah. There are a few slight rule wrinkles to iron out, though, as follows:
- 1) You get 1 point for guessing the exact game title. If you get the series (or subseries) but not the game, you get half credit.
- 2) If something is from a series that goes in order but doesn't always specify the numbers, using subtitles instead, either is acceptable. For instance, you may say either "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team" or "Mario & Luigi 4" (or "Mario & Luigi RPG 4"). The same is true for games whose titles have a easily-understood shorter form (for instance, "Atelier Ayesha" rather than the full "Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk").
- 3) If something is from the first game in the series, please specify that some way; otherwise, I don't know if you're talking about the first game or the series as a whole.
- 4) You can get a bonus 1/2 point each for naming the exact title of the song for tracks 6, 34, and 41.
Now, with all that rulemongering out of the way, I hope everyone has fun with this. Maybe you'll find some new soundtracks to like that you didn't know about before, or even new games (or new things to port, if you're a music porter). I do not have any prizes to give out, unfortunately. Sorry, guys. (Hey, I'm dirt-poor...) So you all get participation badges.
The music can all be found here. Deadline for entry is February 29, at 23:59:59 MST (6:59:59 GMT), and you may PM me your answers. (Also, I have no idea how difficult any of these will be or if the variety is acceptable, so...make of that what you will.) Oh, and you may discuss the contest in this thread as well.
Without further ado...have at it!
