After a long while of toying with the idea of making an updated version of my first ever SMW hack, I thought ‘why the hell not?’ This will be an updated re-release, not an entirely new hack that just happens to have the same name. I’m not gonna completely redesign all of the levels, so there may be subtle differences in styles from level to level or within the same level.
While the design is decent for the most part, I feel like the general ugliness of various segments and unintended shortcuts might push it into the removal log.
Some changes include:
- Fish Styx is no longer the first stage, due to the puzzling design. It will come later.
-Patches that fix glitches and breaks will be applied
-Some rooms or levels I don’t really like will be replaced with something different or removed entirely
-Some new levels will be added.
-To elaborate, the vanilla stages I showed in the Luigi's Breakdown thread (it was originally gonna be a 2 hacks thread with the spot light focusing on Luigi's Breakdown) will be included, except for the water balloon level, as it requires use of a glitch that will be fixed in this hack.
-Possibly custom music (not 100% sure)
-Various aesthetic changes/improvements
-Parts of some levels made easier or harder
This will still be vanilla for the most part. I see no reason to add any custom ASM that alters gameplay, custom blocks, or sprites.

This is one of the rooms that will either be completely replaced with something different or removed.

Just in case you don't feel like going to the LB thread to see the new levels (I have not forgotten about them):

Shell Chaser. The ? blocks contain Yoshi.

Very beta screen of a Chuck based level. Might use this as the theme and call it "You Blockhead!"

Numbers Station. Those are 1-up checkpoints and the 1-up is used to feed a baby Yoshi. Maybe 3-up moons will play a role...

Oh hey, this should be pretty sweet. I've never actually played the original SMFML (even though I have the original ips), but its cool that you're remaking it. Good luck with this!

I'm using the VLDC7 and 8 soundtracks. Not only am I tired of some of SMW's original OST, I don't really want to give Ninty a cent of ad revenue if I still used vanilla SMW audio and it got claimed. One thing I like about using the VLDC soundtracks is so I don't have to go and search for ports/original compositions I might like since I feel like those wouldn't really fit, considering the original FML used vanilla music.

I decided to change the level's name cuz it wouldn't make sense for a level with no wizard enemies to be called Hogwarts.

RMC I-box of this stage confirmed.

Will have to scrap this level (Numbers Station) cuz the gimmick didn't work the way as expected, and any fixes would be too complicated to really be worth it. I wanted to have different rooms where you'd have to use 1-up checkpoints to spawn mushrooms and have Yoshi eat them along with 4 other things, and since they only spawn once per level even if you put multiples, I have to have the player enter a room after each checkpoint 1-up where you can collect a moon and then enter a sideways exit so that the moon would be gotten, and in the moon's place would be a stone block for you to run across (forgot to place the stone block behind, but that's not the issue). Once I get one of the moons, they all would disappear, making the level kinda broken.

Paused for who knows how long cuz I'm not in the mood to be playing whack-a-mole with AddmusicK's "sample was not found" messages even tho this is supposedly a VLDC soundtrack (samples it says are not in a place even tho they are), and I consider samples less 'vanilla' than non-sampled. If people appreciated the default samples a little more, maybe I wouldn't have to feel like I'm pushing out a baby.

It's either the default soundtrack or the VLDC remixes. I don't really want to forage for music section ports for this.
