A small update for everyone (well actually now that I look at the size of this post maybe it's not so small ):
I finished the model for course 5, but I don't really feel like doing objects right now, so I started making course 6, a valley with lots of poison that acts like lava. Take the vanish cap with you, it'll help you get into some secret rooms... Anyway my goal for this level is to experiment with some scrolling textures for the first time, so we'll see how that goes!
Also I decided I'm probably gonna revamp courses 1 and 7 at some point, since those are the ones that probably need the most improving. Course 1 just feels empty to me, and course 7 was actually the first level I made for this, and so it looked impressive to me back then but now it doesn't really look that good when I compare it to newer models, so I think remakes are in order for those two levels.
Okay, so after trying to get the lava collision type to work with the 2nd area importer, I have now finished course 6, and I also completed the metal cap course, which I have decided to actually show since it's one of the larger side levels. Screenshots are on the first post.
About the levels: Course 6, as stated earlier, is called Poison Valley, and it's a semi-challenging level where you must avoid the burning poison that you will likely fall into should you miss a jump. The metal cap stage is basically a cave full of blue lava. Once you activate the green switch you can use the metal cap's powers to collect the 6 stars in the level. The last one is one of the hardest stars I've made so far...just warning you
So next up, I'm going to take the model from course 5 that I finished before and actually import it into the game and add objects, then I will do my remakes of courses 1 and 7 that I mentioned earlier. Then at that point I will have approximately half a hack!
I look forward to seeing what fresh new hell you unleash upon us with Bubbling Magma Sea.
It's not gonna be that difficult of a level, since course 6 was hard (except star 5), and it'll give players a nice break before stars 5 and 6 in course 8 (red coins and flipswitches). Although I guess due to missing caps most people won't be able to attempt that flipswitch star anyways... (you need vanish and metal for that one )
Preview of about 75% of course 7, I still need to add textures and finish up a few things.
Also I think I forgot to mention I got the objects into course 5 and have started adding them into the new course 1 which I haven't shown anything of yet. I'm gonna focus on course 7 for now, after that I'll get some screenshots of courses 1 and 5 and update the first post.
Now, info about the demo I mentioned a few posts back:
I'm thinking half a hack is a bit too much for a demo so I don't think I'll include every level that I've finished but there will probably be at least 4 or 5 levels. I haven't really decided yet, but the demo should be coming out sometime next week.
Is there gonna be a Wing Cap in that level? Just imagine the Wing Cap running out when you are over the spike and you fall down on it ass first. XD
Haha, that would be funny. There IS a cannon that you'll have to open for the first star, but I don't think I'm gonna give you a wing cap sorry . You could cheat the rest of the level if that existed there.
