Ok, do yourself a favor and read this thread. There are literally a lot more people stating reasons against it than the other way around. ; )

Those who scored higher I'm noticing are okay with Anonymous Judging, and those who scored lower, for the most are not. Anonymous or not, if a level is badly designed in any of the judging departments, it's going to score lower; regardless if the judges know who made it or not.

I got 101st place and I'm totally okay with anonymous judging. Last year we ran into a giant shitshow in the comments when MrDeePay was the judge. This year, besides MrDeePay, I really don't see anyone taking issue with the anonymous judging. Unless there's an overwhelming reason that can persuade the entire userbase to change their opinion, I say keep going with anonymous judging.

Personally, I know I'm a bad level desginer. I understand that. I doubt that my score would increase if the judges were known because I am not a famous hacker, nor was my level good. The only people I've noticed complain about this are salty because they thought they wanted a higher score, or MrDeePay because he's salty that he couldn't get away with starting his shitshow that he produced last year and as a result ended up not being a judge this year.

First of all, can you please not call out MrDeePay about this? It's quite rude, we don't need people picking fights. Second, I'd just like to state that I, a judge for this contest, heavily dislike anonymous judging. I personally think it's very stupid- the sole reason we did it was to show people who claimed there was bias keeping specific people in the top that there was no such thing. Now that it's run its course, I have to dislike it for bogging things down. I can't give people an accurate image of why I gave a level what I did because I have no idea whose levels were which anymore, something I doubt I'd forget if I knew the names beforehand. I dislike how slow it is and how it requires an extra person to compile it for the judges. What's the real problem with non-anonymous judging? As long as we make sure to keep biases out of this by policing each other on that, we'll be fine. Judge shows bias? Kick them out. Person shows clear bias before judging starts? Don't even let them be judge. It's as simple as that, no need to do this!

Not necessary, yet not surprising.

Overall, there's no point in having a huge debate over all this. Remember that this is not just to make to easy for participants, but also the judges. They work hard more than we do.

Welp I predicted the wrong thread :P

off topic: is that Berkian guy a rereg
42nd is pretty good considering how much I forced the gimmick (glad at least one judge recognized what I was doing :P) upon myself and how much I rushed.

I'll also say I'm not in favor anonymous judging returning; it seemed like more of a hassle than it was worth.

E: Just realized there was a thread about anonymous judging that just got closed—I could have broken the tie. :(

42nd as well. People with the same rank have very different levels after all.
On the topic of Anonymous judging, since the pols were tied, why not make it one and one?
One and one what? You mean have half of the judges be anonymous and the other half be known to the public? If so, that could actually be kind of interesting. Have a couple of "mystery" judges to spice it up a bit, or something.

..if I totally misunderstood, let me know.
No, I mean, making one contest with anonymous judging and and the next one with non-anonymous judging.

Since this one was anonymous, VDLC10 wouldn't be, but VLDC11 would have anonymous judging again. Just something I thought to please everyone.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

No, it would not.

Mods said that they'll more than likely leave it up to the contest organizer and judges for each contest (not just VLDC). That's assuming they keep up with it- general mod census was mostly against anon judging.

Okay, I would like to say something here.

When this event first happened I wanted to participate. So I made a level and submitted it.

Lots of people started posting their levels in the main thread and so I made a level and posted it there too.

I kept checking this contest every now and then to see what the judging was on my level. Only today I see that the judging has happened.

Now to my surprise I find that I cannot find my name for the judging. So apparently the thread that I thought was the submission thread, the one where everyone else was posting their levels was NOT a submission thread at all and apparently my level was not taken into consideration.

I just feel as if this were misleading. Here I'm thinking I'm submitting, but really it didn't get submitted.

Here is my original thread that I thought was being submitted.

It was pretty clear that you were to submit your submission to the... submissions thread. Nothing you can do now.

I don't blame you if you have poor English or something. But if you read all of the rules and all of the specs for submissions clearly, you would have seen the thread where almost everyone posted a link to their submission (from My Files). The subforum where you created a thread is simply for people to show off/brag about how fast they can make levels/increase hype.
As condolences:

Maybe cypher played it?

So yeah, nothing I can do for you at this point.

Putting that aside, I played the level just now and honestly, it doesn't have much to offer. You can beat it in one minute without ever letting go of the "right" button. The palettes are... questionable and the level overall is rather flat. Using savestates, I actually managed to run through it without ever stopping.
I mean, even without savestates, you can get to the midpoint in 13 smw seconds.

So, in all honesty, you wouldn't have scored very high with this.

I'm concerned.

For my level and such I don't care about savestate use. But that level is designed to be 105-difficulty.
