Considering bringing the Kaizo Collab back... Nah, nevermind. (Please close)

So after I left, the Kaizo Collab went down the drain. I want to completely restart it and bring it back, but with a twist.

There will be nine levels, just like before, but the last stage will be different. Rather than having just one person do the final stage, I'm thinking of letting people make one of the eight rooms in the final stage (like bowser's castle in the original SMW). That way, people who are interesed but don't wanna make a whole level can participate that way.

This won't be for a few months, but I just wanted to throw that idea out there. What do you guys think?
I do not know what to think of it, it will be canceled after few months.
And I think that are "most" busy with their own projects.

I'll wait and see, and if all goes well I'll make a small stage

Here's an idea: it takes forever for a lot of people to make these big, epic Kaizo levels. What if everyone made a simple vanilla kaizo level? Less risk of people cancelling, no need to compile all the resources, ASM graphics, etc.

Now to talk about something a little different.. I've also thought about differentiating the Kaizo contest (if we're still doing it) with a chocolate Kaizo contest and a vanilla Kaizo contest. Not that we would have both contests, but when we make it a chocolate contest every level is so vastly different from each other, we end up with crazy different results.

What I think would be cool would be if we had a vanilla styled or at least more strict Kaizo contest and made it into a collab. Then the issue is that I don't think we should resict people on their Kaizo levels. This all implies that we actually have the contest.

I'm perfectly fine with people doing that. I never said it had to be super ASMified, although I'm sure there are people who will use ASM if they sign up. As long as I'm not the only one who makes an ASM heavy level, I'm totally fine with that.

I'd be all for a chocolate kaizo contest. Also, it would be neat if we did the vanilla contest collab thing. As far as restricting goes, maybe we can give people certain slots to put whatever sprites they want in. For example, you could have three sprite slots, and one generator slot. Something like that.
Just wait for the KLDC I guess.

Making a simple vanilla kaizo level shouldn't take more than 8 hours, 12 hours with polish
I remember being this collab. After you left, Kagami Hiiragi took over. After a while, she left and then Nambona890 took over. Yes, the Nambona890 hosted this collab for a short while. I actually still have my level for it, but I would like to start fresh because my level was shit anyway.

I don't entirely agree with this because there would be less variety in our kaizo levels. On the other hand, I don't want too many chocolate resources either because it would make the levels look too different. It would be best to keep it in the middle.

Yeah I know Nambona890 ran it for awhile. I don't really think it was his fault that the collab failed, even though he did decide to cancel it.

I have your level too, I didn't think it was bad at all, but if you wanna remake it, by all means go ahead once I start it back up.

Yeah, that is true. At the same time though, the vldc is our biggest contest and is easily turned into a collab because it's so easy to make a level and compile all the levels together into a collab. It certainly doesn't create less variety, the vldc always has extreme amounts of variety. Instead of relying on ASM, people use their creativity to come up with unique, interesting ideas. The last kaizo contest had a really weird, contradictory "theme" to it because we were supposed to make a level like the original kaizo, yet ASM, graphics, and everything you could possibly imagine were allowed. This produces some cool finished levels admittedly, but I think most of us could come up with something pretty cool with vanilla resources as well. When we allow chocolate resources in the kaizo contest, it puts everyone who doesn't use ASM heavily at a serious disadvantage.

Edit: Not trying to change the topic to the kaizo contest. As far as kaizo collabs go.. collabs are always much harder to do when you have to compile tons of resources, ASM, etc.
There's actually a possibility that I might disappear from SMWC again , so I'd rather not start a collab then leave it leaderless again. Plus collabs rarely ever work out anyway.
