Well, here`s some ports from Shinobi 3. Since the game is on the Genesis, its kinda hard to exactly emulate the song since both the Genesis and the SNES have their ups and downs (for example, the Genesis being more geared to rock, synth and techno and not really exceeding as well in orchestral and atmospheric music, while the SNES is MUCH better for that, but not as much for the capabilities of the Genesis), so it might be not that accurate, but I tried my best here. Anyway, here they are:
Shinobi 3: Idaten (MMX Style) (This was more of a fake chorus effect test, as you can see here, but its probably one of my best ``test´´ ports IMO)
Shinobi 3: Whirlwind (SNES Capcom Style) (this one is named like that just because I used CPS2 vibes, but I was thinking of actually doing remixes on this style, since there were some Capcom games which had orchestral sounds, like Breath of Fire 2)
And now, here`s my first attempt at replicating a specific game. I must say, though, the results turned out pretty damn amazing IMO. XD
Megaman: The Wily Wars - Wily Tower 1 (X1 Style) (the MML is with the wrong tempo, but I think you all came here for the SPC so I dont think it matters much. XD If there is a way to fix the tempo, though, I`ll definitely get on that as soon as possible.)
For people who dont know, Kevvviiinnn (or Kevin Phetsomphou) is a composer which does Megaman styled pieces (mostly 8-bit), and here is a port of one of his 8-bit pieces which I luckily found a MIDI of it made by Tpcool, so yeah. Go check him out if you havent already. Also, this is one of my first attempts to replicate a specific style, so it might not be exactly like its from X2 or not. I did try my best by using more softer sounds like X2 did instead of drowning everything in guitars like X3 did, so I guess this works, I dunno.
This is probably one of my favorites so far, because not only did I find a MIDI that already had 6 channels along with percussion for this song (since I have to remove channels to fit the 6 channel + drums limit), the MIDI had every note in place and I nailed the instrumentation in the first try! Cool, huh? XD
If anyone can tell me what can I do to make this more like the original in terms of instrumentation, please do. Tbh, I am not quite sure about the instrumentation in terms of the bassline and the distorted guitar (since I feel I can do MUCH better on this tbh), so if there are better samples I could use, I`ll definitely test them out and see if they work. Anyway, that`s all for now.
Yeah, this is a pretty underrated piece in Megaman 6`s OST tbh. I tried my best to replicate the sparkly instrument that the song has with some ADSR and black magic, and I think it turned out all right. I also tried to make the drumbeat a bit stronger, but I`m still trying my best to figure out what to do with that so it may not be perfect.
As you can see here, I tried to mostly replicate the Genesis version here (what with the faster tempo and more powerful instruments), though that isnt exactly based off of the Genesis version because not only it isnt that powerful (I think, I`m not really sure tbh), but the MIDI is off the SNES version, so no final solo or anything. Yeah, I`d say its more of a middleground tbh.
Yeah, this was NOT easy to do in MMX style tbh, since as you can see here, the organ is not the same. I was wanting to try other organ samples instead, but since no one of those organs were what I wanted, I just said ``fuck it´´ and went with MMX`s crappy ``organs´´ (which surprisingly worked much better than expected). I also have to thank MaxodeX for this, since he gave me some advice after I asked him through PM, so really, thanks for that dude!
Oh yeah, I also made the drumbeat a bit stronger in this one too (though this port may be a better example of that than the Wily Stage one), so yeah. XD
Megaman 5: Charge Man (X1 Style) (this one is actually a remake of my older port of this song, btw. I mostly gone with X1 instruments on this one, and now everything is tuned, leveled down, and MUCH better than the original mix IMO.)
So, yeah, here`s more ports. Nothing much this time. Feedback or comments are highly appreciated, but not needed (well, regular comments, that is).
Meh, I dont have anything new besides, like, one port which is a WIP anyway, but I have to post on this thread at SOME point. So, here is a compilation of my ports I showed on C3, along with the aforementioned WIP:
Now, for the WIP, that being the Solar Man port: its almost completed, though I dont really know about instruments I could use that fits X3`s style. Also some volume issues and no echo, though that will be fixed eventually. Also, the Vanishing Gungaroo port I made could also be considered a WIP, but I really dont know what else could I do to improve it, so for now, this is all you guys get. Sorry...
Also this, but its not a port, so I dunno if it matters or not. Still posting it anyway. lol
