Tip: The "Edit Animation Settings" tab in Lunar Magic is very convenient if you want to disable certain animations in the game to make room for your own graphics or ExAnimations.

Basically, it's a really hard hack.

As always I haven't worked a lot on this hack, blame VLDC1 and PL (you should check those out btw, links are in my custom title). Anyway, as I was saying, I haven't worked a lot on this. I wanted to have a demo ready for this C3, but I don't, so this is a "I couldn't finish my demo so have some screenshots instead" excuse of a thread.

Right now all the levels for the demo (except the bonus level) are done, so I focused more on the ASM part (which is taking ASM from here because I don't code myself, I should learn though). Here's what's new:

Remember the medals I promised? I finally implemented them thanks to LX5's star coin patch. Right now they can be collected and saved...and they don't do anything else, they will in the demo and the final version though. Also the graphics are not final. And yes, all the message boxes will be like that.



I inserted the save point from OW spritetool. I had to relearn how to use that thing because I totally forgot. Tbh I've never been a fan of save prompts appearing after some type of levels, I think the player should be allowed to save anywhere but still required to save by using your determination. The final version will have several save points so you won't have to backtrack to the beginning just to save your game, the demo will only have two save points. Also you see that submap? I opened my ROM and was like "this map is crap, I can't show something like this in C3" and made it less crappy.



Do you like custom bosses? That's good because you will be facing the bosses you already know. Well, kind of, I want to use unique scenarios for each boss so they are more challenging and original. Here are two examples: Clawgrip and Undyne Undine.



I'm also working on a small town that will serve as a hub level. I haven't designed the insides of the house yet, but I'm planning to add a boss rush, an entrance to the bonus world and some random NPCs with dialogues similar to the message box above. I might also add hints for some medals like the ones in the item shop from the PL demo which you should be playing right now instead of reading this.



And no screenshot for these, but I also implemented counter break (Mario begins small in every level), smb3 koopas and smb3 powerdown.

So, what's left for the demo? I want the medals to be fully functional, in the demo, when you collect all of them, they should take you to a bonus level which I haven't designed yet. Other than that I still need to do a proper title screen and intro level, and I need to nuke the status bar so I can replace it with a custom one (so yes, ignore the crappy status bar palettes). There are also some minor stuff I want to do like increasing the initial life could and giving a 1-up at the end of every level. And last but not least are a lot of bugs I need to fix; I just fixed two major bugs before posting this thread.

I don't know when the demo will be ready, but I'll release it as soon as it is, so I won't wait for a C3 to release it unless there's one nearly after I finish it.

ntc, para decir verdad, la barra del estatus con el sprite de undine me molesta. Pero se ve que te haz esforzado mucho en esto, muy buen trabajo.
