I saw this thread on Facebook, it looks really cool, gonna have to give it a spin. #tb{^V^}
So, uh... how do I get the second star in Spooky House?

Both stars in Spooky House are level-ending stars, so saying "the second star" isn't specific enough. Which star do you already have? Don't forget to put it in a spoiler.

All right, here's the latest patch:

EDIT: LINK REMOVED TO AVOID CONFUSION (a patch will be available soon)

P.S. Can I get confirmation when the main download link gets patched?
I've played up to world 5 and I like it so far...minus one thing. The fight in Bowser's Dark Castle is really dumb and should be replaced. I say that you should edit it because (as I learned from the creator) it was apparently edited after submission to have that fight. The fight itself is really dumb and unfair as Bowser is super RNG based and you can't see him at all 90% of the time, and it's in general frustrating, trial-and-error based, and way harder than everything surrounding it.

In my defense, the original fight was even dumber because it was literally just a Ludwig resprite in a flat, empty room, followed by an SMB3 Bowser in a flat, empty room with slowly generating bombs and slowly generating para-goomba resprites, which is really lazy and tedious (the para-goombas were hardly a threat and SMB3 Bowsers take 20 hits to kill! Plus, there was a mushroom generator, just to make sure that any bit of challenge the base AI had a chance of posing was gone).

With that said, I do appreciate you giving feedback (though I'd appreciate it more if you'd offer suggestions), and I've made some changes to the fight:

EDIT: LINK REMOVED TO AVOID CONFUSION (and because I was told via PM not to post updates in the thread; rest assured that we're still working on this).

Most of the upward-facing spikes are gone and there are more Bowser-destructable bricks to help prevent Bowser from being too far off-screen. I even redesigned the room so that, no matter which platform Bowser is on, there's always a spot below where you can safely stand and keep an eye on him (it's also easy to backtrack if you fall past your target platform). I also removed the Roto-discs since RNG in the same room as consistent AI can cause problems. Let me know if you think it's an improvement.

I'd also like feedback from other people, if possible.

I mean the star
outside the manor, not the one below the stairs.

Did you make it to the sign that says
"this isn't the right way"
? That's because
you went the left way. Instead of going left (toward the vine that leads to the door that leads to the sign), go right.
You should be able to figure out the rest from there.
Version 1.01 is finished! You can get it here or in the first post:

http://media.smwcentral.net/SMWCX/SMWCX%201.01.zip

Changes:
- 1-ups have been added to the hub.
- The boss in Bowser's Dark Castle has been given another overhaul.
- A couple typos have been fixed.

For those who already downloaded v 1.00 and don't want to have to download the entire episode again, here's a "patch only" download:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/x42kmjv7fcsgaqr/SMWCX%20v.%201.01%20patch%20only.zip?dl=0

EDIT: Well, this thread just kinda died. I'm guessing we've fixed all the problems?
Can I keep using my save file after I insert the patch?

Yes. Just be aware that if you've beaten Bowser's Dark Castle already, beating it again will give you an extra star (since the new boss, and by extension, the level's star, is in a different section).
In the Pikmin level, I've managed to find three stars: The one in the forest part if you manage to hit the green goomba, the one below the cracks in the cave section and the main star. Where can I find the one I've missed?

Here are two hints that should lead you to it. 1.
It's in the forest part
and 2.
Are there any signs that don't seem to have a use?

Very very very shortly, this drab, workaday world and everything in it will be changed forever! Follow us into the golden country, into the empire of the senseless!

Alright thanks? By the way, did you make any changes to Dark Dungeon, it was easier than I remember it but maybe that's just me. No problems if you changed it, just curious.

Speaking of Pikmin Forest, am I the only one who found that level super tedious? Especially in the forest section where you have too go back to pick up pikmin all the time.

Other than that, everything is great #smw{:TUP:}

I didn't change anything. It might just seem easier since you're the one who made it and, therefore, you know what's coming up and how to deal with it. Or maybe Blue Leaf changed something and I didn't notice.

You're not the only one. Blue Leaf and I did our best to undo as much tedium as we could (including me giving the desert section a complete overhaul, as well as me shortening the power-up filter from, like, fifteen seconds to only one second), but there's only so much two people can do.
I realized that in world 6, in the level "Parkour",
the vine leading to the secret Passage seems to be missing

That's because
the invisible vine was deemed unintuitive, and the way to reach the secret star has been altered. Now, you have to run and build up flight.
.

Sorry I couldn't respond sooner.

I haven't had a chance to finish this yet as my main computer is down for the count, but what I played so far is really great. You guys did an excellent job, and I appreciate all the hard work that was put into it.

I saw this game on YouTube and thought it was really cool but there isn't any kind of tutorial and I've no idea how to run it. All I see are some folders and music files. What do I do with these? I wish the community would be more open to people who don't work with hacking and programming...

First, you need to download/install this program. After downloading/installing it, go to the game's directory and open up the Worlds folder. Move the folder containing the other folders, music files, and level files into the Worlds folder, then run the program.

However, we're currently working on a 1.2 patch for the game, so you may want to hold off on playing it for now.
