Quest on Full Moon Island

It may not be long, but it's still a great hack following a story different from what Mario games usually do, contains great graphics and soundtrack and has very enjoyable levels with great scenarios. Definitely a hack both worth (re)playing and that needs more attention.

I know it was featured some years before the hack remoderation, but I believe it's fine to nominate it for featuring as nowadays we sorta have a new hacks section, as well a different badge for a featured hack implying that hack standards changed.
Banzai Mario World
Honestly one of the best, if not the best Kaizo:light hack out there. Serving as a good introduction to players to the Kaizo genre, it combines clever level design, with good-looking vanilla manipulation and enhanced ASM gimmicks that will give you hours of fun.
If you're searching for a hard, yet savestateless-possible hack, or want to get started with Kaizo hacks, it's worth giving a shot.

mfw this turned out to be kind of a review. oops
I'd first of like to nominated Yoshi's Strange Quest, because of it's well varied level design, different gameplay mechanics and great humor. I've had so much fun playing it.

A hack I enjoy just as much is Mario's Journey Through Time & Space. Other than some rare hitbox issues, I think that everything in this hack fits together perfectly. The interesting and detailed looking graphic style, the new and interesting enemy concepts and the SMB-styled level design. Very unique.

"Rare".
That thing was so unenjoyable just thanks to that bug alone I wouldn't even give it two stars.
Like the rest of the game might be the best thing ever but if I die by hopping on enemies more than half the time I'm not gonna have much fun.

I actually agree with leod on this. Like... totally agreeing, since I played it too in the past.
I'd need atleast another user to second this if you want it added in the list; after it, we could give this a go.

GOD NO.

This hack is very unfair, especially when playing it save stateless near the second half of the game. Sure, it's "great humour" (if you call toilet humour and fat fetishes "funny") is there, but that can't be the main selling point. The levels are varied, but many of the issues rely in how precise you have to be in order to pass through all the tough challenges. The different gameplay mechanics just encourages Yoshifanatic to abuse it, and sometimes you aren't aware of all the tiny physics that you're suppose to use. Sure you can try to say that Mega Man X introduced challenges that you're suppose to figure out, but at least those tricks are introduced in safe environments.

Also SCREW those long ass levels. SCREW THEM. Just WATCHING people play this would make others cry in agony. Playing it is just signing a contract to
EvilYoshifanatic
.

I'll go into full detail when the thread is up...

...

I guess I'll add my own nomination. Most likely it won't happen, but here it goes.

Super Mario World: The After Years (Ultra) by Evilguy019

A solid hack with a nice story with well-developed characters (though the grammar isn't perfect), and a very varied selection of levels and world themes, from places on a satellite to an amusement park (just to name a few). Definitely one to look at.

...

Also I second Banzai Mario World. It's one that can truly test the player, and is also surprisingly fair for a save-stateless Kaizo hack.

The hitbox issues have apparently been fixed since you last played it:

We recently added a new rule stating that hacks which don't run in accurate emulators can't be featured. From now on, make sure your nominations don't have the "fixme" tag.

Not very sure if I played the newest version back then.
In this case, I guess giving it a go won't hurt.
This one.

I really like its design, gimmicks, some eyecandy and more! Try it out!

While your motivations look really poor, I'd like to see if there is more people who can give better reasonings. Only after that, we'll consider giving this one a go.
Game.bps is my nomination.

Not going into spoiler territory here, but along with 'the, game.bps is one of very few mario fangames to actually make me feel genuinely tense and even scared, at times. The music, ASM, graphics, and level design all coalesce to make a horror hack that, refreshingly, is actually spoopy scare-inducing, and that feels great. That alone makes it deserve a feature in my opinion.

I nominate Another Mario World. It shows that a hack doesn't have to use anything custom to be enjoyabe. The level design is really enjoyable, not too different in spirit from the original Super Mario World. Some levels have fun gimmicks and others nicely change the pace of the game. It is one of the best examples of a vanilla hack.

I'd like to nominate A Very Super Mario World. It brings some nostalgia, and does unique stuff. Sort of like RTDL.

Please people, add links when nominating something, thanks.
Before I forget, I'm nominating Cheep Cheep Challenge. It's really different from most SMW hacks - it's a single level collect-a-thon. While simple, I think it's extremely clever and feels professional in what it sets to do.
I'm curious to know what people's reactions would be to featuring this hack.

So I'll just add it to the list myself :)

Just saying that I agree adding it in the list, but please, wait for me next time, lol.
The Senate

First of all, it can be beaten without using savestates despite its hard difficulity label.

Second, It's varied enough - LD wise and asthetic wise.

Third, It has an original plot, without repeating the usual princess kidnapping plot.

Fourth, Its length is enough to be fun - neither too long nor too short.
