Intro Stage - Purgatory
Stage 1 - Man-eater Forest
Stage ? - Spinning Machine
Stage ? - Pokey level
Mushroom level (Preview)

---

So years ago I decided to start a kaizo hack just for fun, since at the time I wasnt very experienced with kaizo and thus I wanted to see what would come out of it. Needless to say I didn't get very far and only ever completed one stage. Fast foward to over a year ago and inspired by KLDC, I decided to revive said hack, since now I had a bit more experience and knowledge. Fast foward again to the present and I've only ever been able to finish one level again, and now I decided to make a thread.

Now that I've got that out of the way here some actual content:

Spinning Machine

As I said, this is the only complete level as of now. It was supposed to be the first level but I might move it to someplace later on.

So yeah that's all I have for now. Maybe I'll show off more stuff later but for now I just wanted to show this to the public since I've been working on it for so long.

Level 1 is nice! There are lots of ideas which I couldn't think of when making Monstrous Mario World stage 4 - Dangerous Forest.

Really awesome level, looks like it would be a lot of fun to play!

Extremely good, extremely creative, I hope there is extreme motivation for the next few levels! #smw{:TUP:}
Liking the creativity flowing through this hack and level in general and how it exploits variations of the same theme in fun ways. Can't wait for more!
Thanks for the comments everyone :).

Unfortunately progress on this hack has been as slow as always so I have yet to finish another level, but to show that this isn't dead yet here are two level previews:

Mushroom level (spikes are supposed to be insta death)
Muncher level (reimagination of my first kaizo level ever)

Of course both are still heavily WIP so stuff is subject to change.

So how many Levels will have this Hack ?

I haven't planned the exact amount of levels yet, but if all goes well then maybe around 20 or 30 something.

Here's finally another level.

Suggestions for an actual fitting name are welcome.

Very well executed level. I appreciate the idea with Chucks, Moles and Volcano Lotuses. Keep up bro! #smw{:TUP:}

I'm really liking how simple this level turns out to be. You can keep the green shell way past the beginning, breaking some segments.
I hope you keep it up man 👌

EDIT: and how you will decide on a fitting name for it?

If someone suggests a good enough name I'll take it I guess. If not I'll just leave it as is.

Brilliant usage of the pokey tileset. Awesome stuff.
Yeah I'm super down with this level, nice work!

Another year, another level.

Stage 1 - Man-eater Forest

This was meant to be based on my first ever kaizo level, shown on the first post, but in the end I just took some general ideas and made something completely different. This all I have so see you (probably) next year.

Somehow managed to finish another level before the end of the year, albeit a much shorter one:

Intro Stage - Purgatory

Being the introductory stage I didn't want to go too overboard with it, and I think I'm satisfied with the result. Also been experimenting a bit with custom resources so might see more of that on future levels.

Pretty good introductory level. The "get a life" sentence composed of munchers made me laugh
Speaking of, what's the purpose of literally getting a life? Does that have any meaning to beating the level?

After years of moral degradation (the result of continually staring in many kaizo hacks), Mario is sent to the Purgatory to atone for his sins and prove he is worthy enough to go to heaven after death. The first step of this process is to symbolically "get back the life" he once had so that he can fight against the forces that resulted in his demise and finally free his mind. Thus, as long as he doesn't accept his own reality and refuses to get a new life, he will be forever doomed to repeat the same mistakes that got him there in the first place and will never be able to leave the Purgatory.

Originally I wanted the level to revolve around a puzzle where you had to purposely lose lives to advance, while still having to keep enough to avoid getting a Game Over and being sent back to the title screen in the end. But I felt a level like this would be too much for just the introduction and I couldn't really come up with enough ideas to implement it, yet I still liked the concept of manipulating the player's lives to advance, so this is ultimately what came out of this idea.

You could save that idea for later, and at the beginning of the level, maybe a custom block that sets your lives to a certain amount if needed.
Sounds like something I might use for this year's Kaizo contest. Key word being "might" since it's way too early to decide on anything.

How am I so creative? I think taking walks might have something to do with it.
Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.
