Description: | This tool is used to get the text-form binary of a ROM which can be used in hex editors. It can also convert the text back to the original state i.e. *.smc or *.sfc. |
Removal reason:
There were three executable files included with the .zip file: compilerom.exe, extractrom.exe and ROMExtricator.exe. The first two are around 1MB big and the last one 2MB big.
1. There was no readme explaining on how to use or configure the tool.
1. ROMExtricator.exe didn't run at all. Said that rtl240.bpl was not found in my system. I don't even know what is rtl240.bpl at first place. There was no readme either.
3. compilerom.exe and extractrom.exe seemed to launch fine, but they were just opening and closing console with "fatal error", "closing", etc.
4. I tried throwing a ROM file to extractrom.exe. It worked. It generated smw[EXTRACTED].txt which is a exact copy of smw.smc...
So well, it's the exact same copy. There is nothing being done there. No extraction or anything. It just copies the file contents to a .txt file instead. You can hex-edit the .smc file normally in the hex-editor, there is no reason for that. And worser, you made it in two different programs that could be simply merged to the main one.
Either way, I don't think this kind of tool is useful anyway since you can do everything with just HxD or <insert your favorite hex editor here>.
