How Would You Make A Kaizo-Lite Hack?

Hello.

Just curious to what counts as "Kaizo-Lite".
I've made one sorta Kaizo Hack in the past called Chomp.

I was thinking about creating a smaller sequel to it and to make it accessible to myself and those who are not super into Kaizo.

I've seen a lot of things in Kaizo hacks but I just want to know some suggestions to what you could see the average player eventually mastering in a not so tedious way or trial and error.

Thanks. ^.^
I'm pretty sure it's "Kaizo-Light" and not "Kaizo-Lite", but anyway:

If I remember correctly, a kaizo-light hack is said to be easier than or on par with the original Kaizo Mario World's difficulty, assuming you've played it before. But, this is entirely subjective, since many people have different views on hack difficulty.

Also, I can't really provide suggestions to what you'd see in these hacks, since there are so many possibilities to what you can do, so I would just recommend playing more kaizo-light hacks or watching videos of them for a better idea on how to design your levels, and it also might bring more inspiration. On more thing, when testing your hack, try putting yourself in other peoples' shoes to make sure that it has an appropriate difficulty for a kaizo-light hack, and that it has a smooth difficulty curve.

Kazio Light usually refers to savestateless kaizo, basically kaizo hacks that don't require the need of tool to complete, your Chomp hack is a good example of this but I recommend playing Banzai Mario too, as it a good example of kaizo light.
Biggest thing is don't make it too hard.

smw remix i think is the bare minimum difficulty for a kaizo light hack. if you want a general baseline that's a good place to start.
Thanks for the info/advice. I just finished watching a LP of Banzai Mario World so I can how that hack challenged players.

I'll try not to keep it cheap but what are the most over-used Kaizo tropes just so I avoid/don't use them too often?

I know running up Clapping Chucks is one of them. XD

Spikes that make jumps or maneuvering artificially harder and that are used as filler, 1-ups used as bait, Yoshi genocide.

How am I so creative? I think taking walks might have something to do with it.
Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.
Hmm.

When it comes to lives in a Kaizo-Light hack should I try to add many 1UP's to levels so that even if I had it save after each level it wouldn't get too tedious to find a spot to grind for them?

I'm thinking I might have a infinite 3UP Moon Room somewhere maybe...
If you intend the hack to be played with savestates, lifes don't matter. If you intend it to be played without tools, it might be the best to remove lifes from the game alltogether.
There's a couple different ways to go about lives. You can use asm to give the player unlimited lives, place a 1up at the entrances and midways to each level, or have a level where you can get up to 99 when you need it.

Those are just a few options I can think of.

Everything they said above. And if you want to use ASM, no problem. If not, your hack will also be good if you don't overuse the well-known, cheap tricks and the design doesn't look worse than average.
Any reason as to why 7 Up has different logos in USA and the rest of the world?
