SMW2+3: The Essence Star [On Hold]

Looks much better GY. One last thing though. Try adding a bit of an outline to the door now. It blends in almost too well as it is. :)
And I suggest you make the windows just a little bit darker. Since there's more sun outside, and therefore it should be a bit darker inside, then outside.
You should add fast BG scroll on the ship level, so that it will look like it's actually moving. :D

I wanted to, but couldn't locate the Fast BG custom block.

Darkened the windows a bit and added an outline to the doorway.

Also, updated the status bar a bit. I'm now using the 6-digit coin counter since you will be able to shop for items. There's also an exit tracker, is it will come in handy for fulfilling certain requirements throughout the hack.
I believe there is a Fast BG scroll custom sprite. You could search for it at pukiwiki or ask someone if he/she already has it.
Edit: I believe you forgot to mention Black Squirrel in your Credtis section. He's the one who made the desert GFX you use for the party entrance and FG.
Time for an update!

I have a new video showing off the new shop system in my hack. I used the 6-digit coin counter patch to keep track of your coins. That patch replaces the score counter with a coin counter. So, I programmed custom shop blocks to read from your score counter, after a week of agonizing work (agonizing by my standards, other ASM hackers could probably do this in a few minutes :P). Thanks to S.N.N. for a helpful tip when programming these, and everyone else who gave me some pointers.

Here it is:

Very nice shop there, love how you got the message blocks working like that, did that take alot of time to do?

Well, sort of. The only problem I had was that the blocks would sometimes take away more coins than I specified...that had me stumped for a little while. But after S.N.N. helped me fix that, the rest was relatively easy. Basically, I just added in a function to check if you already had the item or didn't have enough coins, then trigger the appropriate error message instead of giving you the item or taking away any coins. ;)

Heh, did you disown the SMW+ hacks or something? They weren't the best, but they were still fun in their time.

SMW hacks? I have no previous SMW hacks. This is my first one. :P

...

In other words, yes I have. ;)
Time for an update.

I've decided to expand on the whole RPG feel of this hack. Firstly, here's a screen of Bundle Up!

I've redesigned the status bar. Some new things you see there:
-Shards: An important thing you must collect in this hack.
-Inv: Inventory. Since there will be side missions in the hack, this will track key items you collect in order to complete them.
-Coins: Coins will have a currency function in this game rather than giving 1-ups. You can use coins to buy various items.

I've also done away with time limits, as you can see. Since you will be able to do side missions in some levels, I want there to be less pressure so the player can explore the level and complete the task.

Credits goes to name128512, Link901, HyperBuu, and The V for the various graphics.

Here's an example of a side mission. This penguin needs firewood for his village, so you must search the level and collect four pieces for him. Penguin graphics courtesy of Oldskoolmario at the Spriters Resource.

Once the four pieces of firewood are collected, he gives you thanks...

...And rewards you with 300 coins.
That's awesome GY! I really like the idea of your side quests. Your status bar looks great too. Filled with stuff, but in a simple and non-cluttered fashion.

Also, I really like the parka-wearing Chucks. hehe.
Nice. I like this update :P
especially the sidequests.
Very nice work! I like the way peach talks ;).(jokin)
/me wants a demo, NOW! D:
Looking really cool and the story seems really fun as well. Keep it up!
wait, how'd you make new status bar counters? *looks around* I still don't see how you did it.

Well, for the new coin counter, I just used Ringodoggie's 6-digit coin counter patch.

The "Inv" counter, I've just replaced the Dragon Coin Counter with. And the shard counter, I'm just using the unused bonus star counter. Nothing all that complicated. ;)
oh, I thought you made completely new counters to the status bar....That reminds me... *runs to the Advanced forum*

Mini update. Just to preview a new feature I'm implementing into my hack.

Anyone remember what game this is from?
It may be from a game of the Mario Party Series if I'm not mistaken, I don't know which game is it from because I hardly ever play Mario Party. Looks nice, as always. This may sound stupid, but is this a minigame?
