ok, I took another look at the video, and there is something I don't really like about it. The Music!
the Music when you beat him, just doesn't fit. Like... It needs to be something more energy-full. Like if you really won a race.
And there is something I'm worrying about. It's the boo.
Since it's a sprite, wouldn't it vanish if it gets out of Mario's screen view?
If so, all the player needs to do, is to wait for it to disappear, then go through the level, without worrying about losing...

Maybe fix those, and it'd be even better.
Are you talking about the music throughout the entire race, or just at the end when you win? If so, I'm still trying to find the right music to put for winning the race.
And don't worry about the Boo sprite vanishing. I used the setting "Process While Off Screen" for the sprite. So, even if you don't move at all during the race, the Boo will still win when it touches its block at the end. Don't worry now, that was my first concern. ;)
The race set-up is now more true to the original. Some of the changes I made were:
-The race now goes from left to right.
-Hitting the face blocks is not necessary to pass the race. However, using them will make parts of the race easier.
That's better! Are the blocks going to be timed in the end though? Anyway, I hope that other races are all over the place, because while there were a few that weren't, the ones that were were normally more fun but this kind was a nice break....
I said all over the place? I meant all over the screen.... Anyway, is this all that you've been working on? I must get kind of boring.... Also, perhaps you ought to make multiple Mario blocks so he can't miss them. Maybe not though.... It could add a bit to the challenge! Anyway, how will you return to the overworld (if there is one) when you have gone to levels? Since shards won't be level enders I want to know what are.... Will it be something like Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, where you can get loads of treasure but you'll have to find a goal in order to escape, or will it be more like Pikmin, where you have to go back to your starting point after you've gotten as much as you can? Also, will there be a limit to how many shards you can hold? Maybe someone could store them.... That way, nobody could get most of the shards in fell swoop....

No, this isn't all I have been working on. I moved on and completed some other levels after I finished the first race. I just recently revisited the You vs. Boo race because I knew it needed some improvement.
These You vs. Boo races are part of the "Euphoria Festival" I mentioned, they're not separate levels. Once you finish a race, you'll just be transported to outside the You vs. Boo building at the festival.
The level-enders will be pretty simple. As for the shards, their purpose is not what you seem to expect. I actually haven't revealed their purpose yet, but it will all become clear once you play the demo. ;)
As you can see here, this level contains another side mission. However, this mission will be a bit more involved than just "fetch this item, the end." This one will involve you traveling to several locations in order to find your reward. However, I'm just showing the primary premise of the side mission here. Can't give it all away, 'cause what fun would it be to play it then. ;)

It looks pretty good but (and this is just a suggestion) couldn't it require you to have a feather in your inventory and, while somebody has a block that will do it, he refuses to let you have it unless you bring him something else, etc. or is that what you already did? Lastly, it seems too obvious. Perhaps there should be a pipe beyond that one that leads to a small treasure room....
I don't quite understand your first suggestion. As for your second suggestion, like I said, this one will involve you traveling to many different locations, and bringing him the feather is just the first step. I'd rather keep him relatively out in the open, so people can find side missions more easily.
This hack seems better and better. This side quest seems also to be pretty nice, and I like Toadsworth's graphics - it's nice to see that some characters of the Marioverse are making awesome appearances in your hack. Can't wait to play it, keep it up!
Actually, that Toad isn't necessarily Toadsworth in this hack. He's simply a fancy Toad. I didn't think your run-of-the-mill Toad would write with a feather pen, so I opted for a more elegant one.
On another note, if you think there will only be returning characters, don't worry, you'll see some original characters in this one too.
Oh. That is completely awesome GY, nice work! Reminds me of the old Kirby 64 cards that you had to collect. I think you should decorate the border a bit with something (just to spice it up), but if you don't want to, I'm sure others will think it is fine as it is.
