single level compilation hacks

Hi guys,
Been reading quite a few of the threads here today whilst the family watches xmas movies play on repeat! ha

It seems like it is quite easy to ruffle the wrong feathers and quickly annoy people here for asking the wrong questions or starting the wrong topic, so please accept my apologies in advance if I manage to annoy anyone. It is not my intention.

I have played a few hacks over the years that I enjoyed but have always felt massive confusion when trying to put order to the chaos that is the smw hack scene. or even my little collection.

lists of favourites and competition entries are often disjointed with dead links or in some cases were simply never finished.
Is there some reference sheet or empirical list besides RHDN which defines finished status or quality of all these hacks over the years?

Also, Looking at the impressive work on the VLDC9 I wondered if anybody has tried to consolidate any of the many hundreds of single level roms floating around into a few full games? and if there is a project name I could search for to learn more.

I saw a thread with an initiative to get the old 2008 VLDC into a single rom but didn't appear to link to a finished ips etc.

Anybody point me in the right direction if such consolidation projects exist?
thanks people! :)
Well, the first VLDC contest has been compiled into one ROM hack.

But as for individual levels, I think the reason why there aren't compilations of them are because
1) No one bothers to take a bunch of levels from different people for different reasons and put them together.
2) Many 1-level hacks have lots of graphics and ASM, and fitting everything into one hack will require lots of space and playing around with resources such as levels, secondary exits, map16, extended GFX slots, music slots, etc.

That's great, I can't seem to find that.

This is a shame, there seem to ba a lot that were enjoyed, judging by the many random thread responses. They were looking for validation here, on this forum alone.

Indeed, which is why the VLDC9 compilation prompted me to ask, as it contains all of this and appears pretty seamless.

Especially given that there are also posts requesting level design ideas for a new hack etc.
This is only reinforced when you consider there is a VLDC 1 compilation!??
these levels were never designed with the idea of them being put into a single hack, yet they have...

Anyway, if anyone has any information on projects like this or has a link for me I'm watching the thread.
Thanks guys
The first VLDC's compilation is here (big time credits to Najeraldo for starting and leading the project).
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
Thankyou :)
I will keep an eye out for updates on other projects.
Not VLDC, but SMWHacking.de has two collabs [One | Two] you can check out. They're pretty fun, and short.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
