Many off you might want to put custom enemies into SMW, right? For example, Goombas, Goombrats, Beezos... You might think it to be a difficult task, but it's FAR EASIER THAN YOU THINK.

Enter: YY-CHR

I'll start off with something simple. I'll put the Classic Goomba into SMW.

First thing I'll do is extract the GFX and ExGFX from SMW. I'd make sure that "Used Joined GFX Files" is unchecked.

I can then go into YY-CHR and open up GFX01.

The graphics we'll change are of the Naked Koopa. All I have to do
is change those naked Koopa GFX into the Classic Goomba. Don't forget to change the Smushed Koopa GFX as well, unlike how I didn't.

Now we can save this as ExGFX80.bin in the ExGFX folder.
We can now insert the ExGFX and use them in a level to replace the Green Naked Koopas.

Just make sure to not place any shells by them. I'd also reccomend either not using them in the same level as Shelled Koopas, or changing the Koopas to not come out of their shells when stomped on. We'll learn how to do that in the next lesson.

Enter: SMW Customizer

SMW Customizer can change the entirety of your hack easily. With this, we can do all kinds of things, but I'll start off with making a Magikoopa in a cloud.

First, we need to put SMW Customizer in the same file as your hack. Open SMW Customizer up, and enter the name of your hack.

Next, we can open up the Sprite Numbers tab and scroll down to "Sprite that Lakitu throws." Change this to Magikoopa's Magic (Sprite 20).

Next, we can open up YY-CHR and edit the Lakitu in GFX02 by replacing it with a Magikoopa. Save this as ExGFX81.bin. (Make sure that the Dead Lakitu sprite isn't an upside-down Magikoopa like I did, it'll look weird!)

We can now insert this into Super Mario World and check out our Cloud-riding Magikoopa! (Do note, this affects all Lakitus! Also, the Magikoopa Magic will always shoot up, so I'd put turn blocks on the ceiling.)

Now then, this is where it gets strange...

Enter: Tweaker

Tweaker allows you to edit the properties of all the sprites in SMW. It doesn't have many options, but the ones you can use are quite significant. For this, I'll make the Beezo from SMB2, aka SMUSA.

First, I'll go into Tweaker and disable some things for the Swooper Bat (BE).

Next, I'll change the GFX of the Swooper Bat as shown, and save it as ExGFX82.bin.
Now, I can insert the ExGFX, and check out the new Beezo! (Do note: Beezos can't be jumped on normally. Also, this affects all the Swooper Bats in your hack!)

With just 3 (If you count Lunar Magic, 4) programs, you can make a HUGE variety of new enemies!
Now that you have a bit of an understanding, see if you can replicate some of these enemies!

Here's a video showing what enemies that I could come up with:

Please post info about any of the other creations you make with this, I'd love to see it! Just don't credit me on this, these programs belong to YY, uyuyuy99, and mikeyk, give them the credit!
Because no one replied:

I like the idea of a tutorial at c3. Perfect for those newcomers who might want to participate. I would make the links bigger for people to see but its still a nice way to introduce exgfx.
