guys i wanna claim a level what one do i claim please tell
Idk if I will actually submit a level, maybe I'll just get into composing like last year

by the way, I tried to fix the unfixable, I mean we're in vldcx it was about time
I did put a level number as a small reference to VLDC7, and I was curious how many people would follow.

Not really a fan of the extended score range. I feel like scores will end up with a bit of randomness to them. As in, a level with a score of 35 might get plus minus 1 point simply because there's such a wide range and giving an "accurate" rating out of 50 just seems like it's not gonna happen.

Like, if a judge (theoretically) were to play the same level blind again, unless it's a solid 50, I doubt there will be many instances where they'd assign the exact same score again.

I mean that's why I replay levels 3-4 times before scoring them and putting my thoughts down. It solidifies my opinion better. Really all the expanded score means is we're less likely to have ties at the end.
i'm just curious about something: if two entries use the same level number, how do the people making the compilation hack manage this?
also are there any level headers reserved for non-entry levels, like switch palaces or the judge levels?

Pretty sure the level numbers will be rearranged once the contest is over.
This will be my first VLDC.

Question: When creating my level on the base rom for submission, does it matter which levels I use? (so long as I specify them that is). Like if I use level 105, do I need to claim it?

We already use extended level names, but we move the top line to the bottom of the border for level author and ranking info. I suggest that you keep your level names to 15 chars max.
The main reason we have a much larger score range this time is so that it will be a lot easier to cut ties. There will also be a lot more post-judging discussion of the results before they're published. This is all to ensure that this years VLDC judging goes as smoothly as possible. We have 6 judges, so you can count on your score averaging out to what it's supposed to be. The actual amount of points is kind of arbitrary, we decided on 100 because it's a nice number. Because the range is so large, a difference in 1 point from a single judge will not make a huge difference either. If the score were say, out of 10, a single point difference would have a much greater impact. Like every year, how they divide up the score is up to themselves. The descriptions for Design/Creativity/Aesthetics are a guide, they're in no way a guarantee that all judges will agree on what those descriptions actually are.

Is having the P-Switch mucic disabled considered a point deductor. The reason I ask is because I use the same copy of AddMusicK for everything.

So you can take two tiles and overlap them. But you can only do this once?

I am also assuming that when you extract all of the graphics from the rom and get all those bin files that any of those graphics are fair game. Is this correct?

Get a copy that doesn't disable P-switch music.

Yes. You cannot overlap tiles that are already a result of overlapping.

Hey! I have a question about the tile merging stuff..
Would either of these be okay? torch 1 and torch 2
Or do they break any of the rules?
I can make a ExGFX Bin file with mix things? Like Stone wall castle + mushrooms + cave + ghost house? All of them in same file Bin?

And about the sprites, i can use YY-CHR to overwrite?

Oh, and another: For example, have a tile in his corner a little transparent thing, i can recolor It?
