Tip: If you make a change to your ROM that you regret, just go to File > Restore > Restore ROM to Previous State in the menu. From there, you can select a restore point and revert your ROM to a previous state.
Katerpie and I are working on this level, inspired by Star Wars of course!
Only a few screenshots right now, since the tileset and level is still obviously a WIP, but here's what we got so far:
Mainly I wanted to replicate the iconic wall lights, and I'm quite happy with the result. The Koopas are white because they're now Imperial Stormtroopers, or Stormkoopas if you want to sit here and make cringeworthy puns.
Yo, this looks pretty good. Nice to see you guys teaming up, Katerpie is great at level design and I can already see the aesthetics look good. There's sooo many things you can do with star wars though. I think the whole palette is too light though, the death star is usually darker?
The level looks really promising. I agree about the background blending too much with the foreground as well the brightness. Don't make it too dark, though. And be sure to try using some transparency (CGADSUB/color math) on some room, I think you guys can make something pretty interesting with it. Looking forward for more.

Rather than use a goal tape, we can have Mario step inside the Millennium Falcon here where he will hit a hidden goal sphere. Not sure if I want to go through this one yet though lol (we'll likely also add layer 3 stars to this area)
Yeah, the FG/BG brightness combination looks pretty balanced compared to the first screenshots. Probably you should go more crazy on the sprite tilesets though, you apparently only messed with the sprite palette. Try finding some obscure graphics from other tilesets, FG or even mode 7, you may find something that fits well with Star Wars (or WTF Wars) ;)
