Hello, guys.
This is my VLDC X entry.
The level is very simple so far.
I'll still make changes in it.
Here some screenshots from Lunar Magic:

Opinions?
that blue is hideous. I like the graphics, but please please take another look at that palette

partner up with somebody that can fix it if you need to just please.
Damn you had me fooled, I genuinely thought it was ExGFX. The way you used the grass tileset to make the cement blocks snow covered is genius!

I just think the palette is a little ugly, especially that bright cyan dirt, and how everything looks so blue. Other than that this looks pretty cool; the level itself seems well enough designed even if there's no super flashy gimmick, altough it lacks a few more enemies/obstacles. Keep at it #tb{'U'}

Yeah, i was worried about the palette...
I'll make it darker.

I'm glad you're enjoying my level.
Looks like the problem here is the palette.
I'll fix this.
Quick Tip: Don't be afraid to look at snow-themed areas from other games to try emulating the pallete style in your level.

Other than that I like the vanilla SMAS style tileset you've created. Try thinking of interesting enemy/platform combinations to complement the graphics!
Oooh no no no, don't make the palette darker, make it a really light white, almost like snow. Like they said, look at other examples of snow in other levels. Snow isn't blue, like anywhere.
Snow never shades into gray tho... or any other color than blue for that matter.

You'd better off making the dirt the typical light brown color with a touch of blue for coldness.
The unmodified BG palette doesn't look all that great either

^ That

Despite the pallete, really good design overall. I know the struggle to get a good 'snowy-ish' pallete.

I think you might want to mix up some sprites other than Koopas. The Hammer Bro fits really well tho. (cuz hammer bro = hammer bro)
Does it look better?
Oh yeah it looks 100x better, nice job :)
Could use a little more work, but yes, that's much better.

Also you don't need to upload screenshots straight from LM. just take one with your emulator.

EDIT: ninjad by Gbreeze

Sincerely, i'm too lazy now to do this. lol
I get it, but if you're going to do this then please post links to the images rather than show the images in your post. You're stretching the screen.
A bit more contrast between light and dark colors would make it even better. Other than that, looks hella more pleasant than before. :P
May I ask how you merged the stones with the snow within the given rules of this contest?
It seems like you changed the dirt of the grass tile to transparent and then merged, which (afaik) isn't allowed...
I'm not sure though, because I can't zoom to check out the exact pixels.

The new palette looks much better, but I agree with MaxodeX about the contrast.

Edit: just asking to prevent any unnecessary penalties

Sorry for the delay to post something here
I decided to rethink the entire level, because I wasn't satisfied with it, so I deleted everything. 8>
It won't be a snow-themed level anymore.
I'm thinking in a "Bubble Forest".
What do you say?
EDIT: Someone is already making a bubble level, so I'll think of something else to do... :P
You should have kept the snow level. It's really good.

And real snow feeling levels are rare in VLDCs. Your level made me remind of the Ice world from SMB3. The hills usage are pretty cool.

Undo the delete.

I second this; the snow level looked really neat.

yeah.. i mean if your hearts not in it dont force yourself to churn out an ice level. But if the aesthetics were what were bumming you out I'll agree that they looked really good in that last screenshot. It's already been said, but it's rare to find a snow level in this contest that actually looks like a snow level, rather then a white grassland level.

But obviously do whatever you're interested in, and do it well!
