I personally find authenticity a bad category to judge because... I and other people have different ideas on what is considered to be authentic when we play Nintendo's levels and that im tempted to say that the judges have different ideas on what is authentic in a level with regards to what and how Nintendo does their levels so it is rather hard to parse exactly how one should be designing an "authentic" (as in, a more clearly-defined metric for what you judges are looking for in authenticity) level. In this context being SMW.

(and btw, im not complaining about my level position. What is there is there and it would be unproductive to do so anyway)

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

I'm actually kind of surprised I got as high as I did for a crap level anyways, but to be fair, what does authenticity even go for? I get the judges are going to judge based on opinion as that is going to be unavoidable, but most categories are kind of factual, an "authentic" category more or less is based completely on opinion, and even on the judges own opinion as to what Nintendo would do. One person can have a completely other idea on what is authentic than someone else.

The contest was fun, but the authenticity kind of thing was actually a rather bogus category for actual judging and I hope that there won't be such a thing in a future contest since that can really throw off what people think they can do and what they can't do.

It is just... confusing.

mfw I lost points to a judge because I forgot the fortress intro.
Middle-th place was what I was expecting anyway, since I sacrificed a LOT of authenticity for the sprite and gimmicks I was using.

I was also expecting ToxicRave to win after looking through all the entries but dude got 3rd so congrats to them and the top 2~

e: wow, just played blue leaf's. definitely worthy of that spot.
literally my first legit attempt at making a non-kaizo level (alone at least, first time was a collab, and it wasn't even a level made from scratch)

i wasn't expecting top 3 but i thought i would rank higher than that tbh

Also the authenticity category is kind of the point of this kind of 24h. The first 24h contest ever was no different, people got DESTROYED for not being authentic, it was a much bigger portion of the score.
It's not even that subjective, by far not as subjective as the design category cause... there's an entire game that we've all played a million times to reference right there...

Was the first 24hr contest I really participated in (paid attention to), but the only reason I am questionable of it (authenticity) is due to my wary nature (I don't mean to come off as whiny or bratty) and strict way or looking at things. I was looking at the contest and the authenticity as "Make it like a SMW fortress and see what Nintendo would do", so I took a look at what the other fortresses looked like and saw a lot of simple designs and some receptivity, so after applying some of that, and seeing the score low in authenticity (I know points got deducted for coins) I got, I was kind of shocked.

But hell, I expected my level to score low anyway, it was just a way to have fun to me, though the authenticity just kind of irks me and I felt I had to say something about it.

I didn't placed reznor boss, because... I don't wanted to.
Also, for turn block and shell less koopas: if this level was in original SMW, you'll need simply bring cape with you. And this block have a simple 1-up.

43rd place, not too shabby. I was hoping that implementing pokeys and lotuses in a castle level would be a creative concept, but I guess they're aren't seen as castle sprites.
