hi whats up its me, member of the month, cldc winner, and keeper of the seven keys charlotte. this is my first vldc and i'm here with my boy nameless to present a kickass level. it's unnamed and still in the early stages of existence but it still goes off tbh. not all the sprite replacements and stuff are finished yet, but we wanna show off what we have.
we're aiming to make it a pretty open level. lotta different paths you can take. if you wanna gun it for the dragon coins n the exit it should be a short level, but we want different paths to explore and different ways to go forth. not some totally linear bs.
Looks really cool so far, but I would do something about that ground. I get that it's technically impressive, but the pattern in the dirt is just way too distracting as it is right now. Interested to see how it plays out, because it's so hard to make multiple paths feel organic enough for the player to actually want to explore in SMW, but the sections of the level shown so far look thoroughly enjoyable on their own.
Yo listen... Real talk man, this is not a game. Do not go to these VLDC levels anymore. SMWC... Steals your money. They sell drugs. The only VLDC level that is... of quality is the "idol & nameless present: the johnny galecki x budd dwyer otp experience" level. This is the only level that have quality. And they sho-hold on, hold on, hold on, calm down, calm do-... I am FuSoYa. There's no reason why SMWC sells drugs. SMWC... do all kinds of things. If you can't tell me what good game design mean, OH-BUSHATABOHOTA-GHBOSHATA, you can't TELL me what that mean. Me and idol are buildin' the level that don't got a name yet. Our level is gunna be on FIRE. So I'm askin' you to stop supporting those levels and support us.
Level looks fire though, visually at least. Don't have enough of them there content to scope out for that there GOOD LEVEL DESIGNS but what you got seems nice and fast paced even though I don't get what the bubbled bob-omb adds cause you just have to wait for that!!

basically it's a kind of open level but all paths will get you to the end. we want to aim for naturalistic linear exploration. basically take a few paths to get to the end. the paths crossover, there are small linear subareas to get you to other areas, etc. not sure how to handle dragon coins atm, but chances are the level will have more than 5 anyway. not gonna only have 5 dragon coins in an expansive level and expect players to explore all over to find them lol, that's not our goal at all. an example of a subarea is that dino rhino gif from my last post. also take this: (gif is a tad glitchy but w/e go hard)
That growing/shrinking pipe elevator room is really cool! I don't think I've ever seen that before.
I would modify the ceiling from the second gif. Mario had to do a somewhat awkward looking duckjump to get up to that single coin platform. It doesn't look hard or anything, but it looks annoying lol
Definitely interested in the future of this level
