I watch anime for over 10 years now and have to say, that Sword Art Online isn't nearly as bad as people make it to be. It was nothing that impressed me, but it wasn't a bad series either. The plot was interesting and I like what they did with this "Being inside a game" thing. But I just enjoyed the first half of the first season, didn't really like second half...

Actually I believe that Sword Art Online is one of the most known anime series in the USA and Europe, besides Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Sword Art Online is kind of that cheesy anime I'm a sucker for but it got REALLY WEIRD toward the end. Can't say it was great but there are worse anime out there.

Yeah, each arc is kinda different. In general, I'd call it a psychological anime. The second arc leaves a lot for the viewer to figure out themselves.
