And are you going to release this, or do I have to try to replicate the effect (and fail)

@Lucario: I think you need to change it's object clipping to either 1 or E.

Those never worked for me. I HAVE to hack the routine, I KNOW it, but I don't know how to do it... But that is not for this thread.

Smallhacker: Wow... Just....wow... That looks really awesome. :D What other reasonable uses could that have besides credits and cutscenes, off the top of your head?
<Adam> I feel like smwc is a prostitute now, because we put up a porn ad for money
Smallhacker: Holy shit! That's quite interesting.

When you press up, you go through a "door" and the level reloads. Bug or intentional?

Lucario and smwedit/edit1754: Hope those doors dont slam shut on your ... Nevermind.

FRICKING INSANE GUYS!
Your layout has been removed.
Still, text looks awesome, Smallhacker. Probably with the FastROM patched too, it won't slowdown.
Smallhacker: That is just amazing!
Mr. X: You never fail to amaze me with your new custom sprites. >.>

I wish I could pull off such stuff...
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)

Depends on how much people bug me about it.

Well... Not much, seeing as it's slow and eats a ton of sprites. It can pretty much only be used when there's no gameplay involved.

Intentional.

I've thought about that, but I don't know how much it'll help.

Everyone! Bug him about it!
This is my first "big" ASM project that I'm quite happy with.

I've managed to program a custom shop system in my hack. I've used the 6-digit coin counter patch, which replaces the score counter with a coin counter. So, I programmed custom blocks to read from your score counter and deduct the appropriate amount of coins after buying the item. Plus, there are a couple extra little features as well, as seen in the video. Thanks to anyone who gave me pointers while I was setting this up. :)

New Shop System
A simple block I made (thanks smkdan for helping me):

Ersan made me post here so he could post next, so here's a clueless comment. (He said editing his last post here won't draw attention.)

...

OMG COOL!! :O
Ersan you rock. <3
Cool.

Is it supposed to turn the key into a coin, though? it seems like it would make more sense if it disappeared in a puff of smoke...

It actually changes the sprite state. There wasn't a sprite state which makes the sprite dissapear in a puff of smoke though...

...oh yeah I wanted to show you guys this:

Took me like 2 hours to make it (DMA DMA getting code right good sound effect definitions stuff), but the result is not-so-interesting...

Yes, "Pause" is BG3.

Also, I made it so that Pause shows up in front of everything. (Hence the 3 example pauses)
(Thanks Bio for helping me with Layer 3 priority stuff)

Oooh, that pause screen looks awesome. You should release it so that everyone can leech off of your work. :D
That seems a bit eazy to make...
EDIT: Except the sound!
The sound seems annoying if you ask me... I wouldn't want my pause screen to drum roll me. :(
These are the last custom sprites you'll see from me in 3-4 weeks.

First and Second Screens: This is a door that remains locked until you get 4 Yoshi Coins. More types of doors are included.

Door

Third Screen: A lava lotus from SMB3. Comes with other types of lotus.

Lava Lotus and related
Lava Lotus looks cool but I don't remember it from SMB3.
You need to play through it again, then, like I did recently. It's only found in a couple of levels in World 3. It isn't exactly the most easily memorable creature, I guess.

Anyways, nice job, Mr X! I also really like the looks of that dragon coin-triggered door.

It is from SMB3. I recognise them. And good gors Mr. X.
I was bored and messed a bit with layer 3.

Layer 3 disabled:

Layer 2 disabled:

The only disadvantage is, that I'm limited to 3 colors per palette.
It uses Color 1-3 on palette 0.
