Now that is epic wiiqwertyuiop.
The thing i love most is the abilty to shoot in so many directions! i would love that :D
SURPRISE SURPRISE

I was curious to know how long something like this would take, being that only a couple others have ever made such a system. It only took me around a day, where half of the time was spent not working on the code.

Took a day to make a helios engine. [email protected] irony.

Also, this is awesome, and I hope to see some awesome use of this engine sometime.
That's actually quite clever.

i thought hdma can only be done during level init. but then again H dma = h-blank??

Practically, HDMA can be done everywhere.
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
MY FIRST CUSTOM SPRITE! WOOT! Link to video Now, I know its not much, and I only realized after I made it that it's just a lame excuse for a custom powerup, but hey, it's still my first, and it surpassed my expectations ...sure my expectations were a crashed ROM, but...
Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
Awesome effect Sonikku. Do you plan to use it in any of your future hacks?

You know Dracula Duck in Duck Tales. Well, he's finally in SMW. Still have some minor things to work with the graphics to make him open his cape only when he spawns a bat.

Guess what, I made another sprite, and this time, it's not a generator! Its a sprite form of the mushroom/fireflower thing. It moves at the same speed as a mushroom, and gives you a fire flower when you collect it. There are 2 or 3 bugs, but they're all bugs that have to do with "special effects"

Comments are appreciated! Thank you for your time!

I'm starting to think I should stick to ASM, so far this is the best I've done on anything resource-wise...

I wanted to make some random HDMA code, but I didn't have any ideas for anything serious to make. So I made something unserious instead.
In case someone can find any use for this, here's the patch. Note that it's a little buggy, and I'm too lazy to fix these bugs.

Oh, and for the love of everything north of the South Pole, do NOT change the EOR #$80 to EOR #$40. It'll end badly.

Haha, I thought about doing something similar but knew sprites would be a pain in the ass to flip.
They were pretty easy. I hijacked a spot that runs very late and edit every single OAM tile. It's just 25 lines.
Maybe it could be combined with another upsidedown patch someone demonstrated at one of the C3s, so everything except Mario is flipped?

Edit: In case you wonder, the most annoying part was finding the table of DMA modes. The rest was pretty straightforward.

It does seem similar to reverse gravity, but it seems mainly to be a 180 flip of a stage.

You can thank me...I originally brought up the idea of flipping the screen 180 degrees...awesome video Alcaro.

I so want to use this for a fortress in my hack...flipping between being on the floor to on the ceiling might be a lot of fun...especially if there were spots where you had to flip gravity to pass, such as with using strategically placed Switchable Blocks that are solid on one setting and passable on the other.
It isn't really a 180 flip, just a vertical flip.

But still really awesome.

That is awesome and can be used for awesome puzzles

Why does people keep thinking that this thing, which is purely graphical, can be used for anything?

By creating a sprite i.e. a crate that changes its yspeed depending on the on/off switch, creating the illusion it would actually fall, maybe?
Just an example of how it could be used to enhance gravity shenanigans.

That'd make it just fall up, and graphically still be going into the sky. I could still see this used to as a random graphical effect.

( Now do 90 degree rotation D:< )
