Google doc

I played levels any%, so I didn't bother with yoshi coins, secret exit, the moon and anything extra.

I did use save-states depending how I felt about the level, since some people didn't bother adding check-point or having more than one mushroom in longass level, I tired to avoid abusing them too much.

If you only want to see your level, then go to doc, find your level, then on 4th/D colum find what part has that level, and finally in description theres timestamp for that level.

The individual parts(link above is updaded) has timestamps in the description, list of levels that each part contains are listed in the google doc, refer to it.

Im not playing more levels because I got sick and was unable to play more, and deadline is in about week so it would be pointless as then the creators wont be having enough time to fix/tweak their levels(assuming), sorry about that.

I replaced Cave Island with Spike-Top Cave, a big improvement from Cave Island.
My level has plenty of powerups. You just didn't take the time to look for them. There was a powerup after the midway point and to the left of the 3-spinning platforms. Also, it's a shame you didn't try to look for the secret exit.

is this even finished? two seconds into the level and theres already impossible jump, what?

Which "impossible jump" do you refer to? The first one that's 1 tile, the one out of the water with two fish, the next one with two ways up, or the slide with the coin indicator? :D

There's quite a lot of jumps in those first two seconds, ya know.
One bad fan judge is enough. Put more effort into actually playing the levels and critiquing them (i.e. judging) next time unless you're trying to parody Falconpunch for god-knows-what reason.

Dude, it's not like he's an actual judge. The thing about being a fan judge means he can put however much effort he wants into judging the levels.

I had question mark in the title(fan-judge part) but frost removed it.

Or did you call me bad reviewer just because (in my option) your level was shit? I really doubt its gonna be rated that high(below the average) in the final/legit judging.

Plus I do what I do, if you dont like, then move on with your life. Its called fan-judge(as opposite of legit/real judge) for an reason.

Woah now. Cut that shit out, both of you.

you are not exempt from criticism just because you are a fan judge. if people have issues with the way you judge or play, they absolutely could and should say it. while lhb's comment was vitriolic and brought up someone who's judging has no place in this thread whatsoever, he is right.

there is little here of substance because you offer next to no constructive criticism. especially with swiss springs, a level that has been decently received by other fanjudges, and you refused to even score it and offered no palatable opinions other than saying you'd rather play shitty kaizo. it's also wildly rude to just comment with "are you even trying?"

--------------------
Yes, your fan judging needs a huge revamp. You should actually tell the respective authors how to improve, not leave comments that include some sort of joke or are rude to their entries. Remember that level judging should be serious and detailed and not contain one-liner reviews that tell you nothing.

Just because you're a fan judge that doesn't mean you're exempt from criticism of any kind. Just take in consideration our feedback of your judging and maybe you'll make an effort to improve.

And LHB, although I agree with you, cut your snarkiness out already dude. No need to mention the fan judging of someone who has nothing to do with this one, either.

Tell that to ninja-boy, he was official judge in vldc9 and his judging was all over the place and his reviews didn't really say anything(even when he scored level lower than other judges), and when people complained about it others said to just stop complaining about it as its his options and so on, no different what Im doing(but hey, he was official judge so nobody can judge him :^)).
My "reviews" are meant to be more of first impressions/quick thoughts after beating the level than actual reviews in the first place, hence "fan-judge?", which again was removed by mod, I changed the first post to be more specif about this so people stop bitching about it.

"it's also wildly rude to just comment with "are you even trying?""

If that was a joke it wasn't very funny.

EDIT: AEON EXPLAINED THE JOKE TO ME, I DON'T UNDERSTAND JOKES

Yes and as a whole we really didn't like his judging either.

While I appreciate the effort it takes to play through all the levels, if you're going to give comments on levels you shouldn't half-ass it. Many of the comments are just a score and a short quip that contains no constructive criticism. One thread was just scores without comments and it ended up getting closed; this commentary is only slightly better.

(disclaimer: I haven't clicked the youtube link because level spoilers, so I don't know if there is better commentary there)
According to Aeon & a few others, short comments are fine. Especially since he isn't an official judge.

Hi.
They should still contain something of substance and provide actual details. Would you rather stare at a review that tells nothing but "you'd rather play a shitty wannabe kaizo level"? I'm sure you wouldn't, even for what you call quick thoughts. And we didn't like ninja boy's judging if you want to know.

Qué, cera, cera.
A few quick thoughts on this thread:

-Reviews or quick thoughts, these still don't seem to have a lot of effort put into them. I can't see most of the feedback here being too useful to the designers, a lot of them mention things like "a few jumps are too hard" without giving specific examples, while others are too short and ultimately say nothing important about the level. I'm surprised with you refusing to review Swiss Springs, it's nowhere near as hard as it seems imo. It just feels like you didn't even give it an honest try.

-Kinda feels like you're biased against autoscrollers to be honest, LHB's level being the biggest example of that. It's a well designed level, it just sticks really close to vanilla, design-wise and aesthetic-wise. While that might be a reason to rate it lower than average (opinions and such), I'm not sure if it deserves to be scored that low.

-Continuing on the scores, I slightly prefer the "traditional" format the contest is currently using, it really helps with breaking ties. It's very helpful considering the already huge amount of levels we have. Just a suggestion, though.

-I have absolutely no idea on why you're bringing up ninja boy's comments here. It has absolutely nothing to do with your thread, and as you mentioned yourself, he was an official judge while this is a "quick thoughts" thread.

Once again, you mentioned yourself how he got a lot of (valid) complaints about it, so uh...

-Why? The whole point of these feedback threads is to help the author improve their levels, and your comments currently aren't too helpful. A lot of them need specific examples, while the rest lack anything constructive at all. In order to avoid doing exactly what I just described, quickly skimming through I'd say Absolute Frenzy, Swiss Steamworks, Aesthetic Land, Chuckmania, Dolphin Beach, Snakes and Ladders, Swiss Ruins, One Effort Mountain, Ruins of Grassland, "yoshi's island 1", Lake Constance ("same as above" would be bad enough on its own, but it's made specially weird by the huge difference in scores), etc. could use more in-depth comments.

-On my level specifically, do you have any suggestions other than editing the background? Currently working on fixing it, by the way, but I'm having some trouble with getting the palette to look good. I'll probably just redo the BG at some point, idk

-Unrelated, but it's a bit annoying to have to search for an specific level in the video currently, if you could link to each of them in the ratings file it would be great (I understand that it might be too much trouble considering the length though).

That's a bit out of context. Short comments are at least better than just scoring with no justification, but considering the comments here are severely lacking in substance it's not too different from a simple scoring chart. This definitely needs some work.

This is a lie. I haven't seen a single person side with ninja boy's undeniably sloppy judging.
Also you comparing yourself to his judging is sure a good sign of the effort you put into these reviews, lol

I didn't look at any of them obviously, it's just that my attention was brought to this thread (also the case for Wind Fish's thread fyi, I legitimately usually don't even look at anything below the stickies)

Also I don't get why you're fighting over people saying your reviews are bad? You posted them so get ready to people's responses to them????????

It's relevant in the sense that this thread is kinda how I would have interpreted your suggestion if I had decided to create one of these threads.

The short comments still have a bit of feedback to them. Sure it would have been nice if he included both positives & negatives rather than one or the other.

It's hard to justify things when going the short comment route, since I'm sure he would like to keep them short. Plus, he uploaded a video of him playing through the levels. You can technically use that as feedback to fix things.

Hi.

Everyone said your reviews is bad. It´s true. Your comments about all entries are short. I think you hate some entries, but I like those entries, like Superwario1999´s entry. That entry is little hard, but it´s not cool. You know what? It´s amazing, even I don´t play it.
Finally, your reviews need a revamp.

Is the video review seriously nearly 5 hours long? i'd rather watch lasagna cat's Sex Survey Results.

i do legitimately appreciate the affirmation that my level is at least certifiably run of the mill, considering only one other fan judge has taken the time to review it so far.
