I was wondering if you could use custom palettes in YI, since in many pics of many hacks, I saw some unusual palettes that look unused in the game.

I'm not hacking YI. Just curious.

Now I'm hacking YI. Doggycharly said there was a palette editor that can let you edit palettes.

Am I mistaken? Lemme know.

Perhaps maybe someone could code a patch or tool that enables custom palettes? Romi said he was gonna add a custom palette editor, but why not?
And another thing. I wanna use Kipernal's Generic YI tools, but Doggycharly gave me only the Sprite Set editor. I'm really desperate to use those.

You are asking way too much, you cannot add palettes, only edit the current ones

Anyway since there is no palette editor included in Golden Egg, you will need to use SNESpal, then grab these offsets: Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3 in order to edit BG palettes

But seriously, are not 63 background palettes, about 10~15(more or less) palettes which are completely unused not enough?? adding shitton of custom palettes would eat more space in the room, leaving less and less space for custom levels

What if I wanna replace them?

K I got SNESPal, but what do I open with it in order to start palette editing?

C'mon man tell me what to do
I read the readme but it's too complicated
Have you ever done this before?

I just wanna replace useless BG2 palettes with some meaningful palettes, that's all

Do I have to use SNESPal or only the offsets? Do I have to open it and then put the offsets? Sorry if I'm asking too much again.

I just wanted to know. Please don't yell at me or anything.

Open your rom with SNESpal and put the offsets (see doggycharly's post) on "Adress", then edit the colors via RGB or copying the raw color value of another color. You can also use the arrows to navigate between the colors.

Yes, it's a mess, but it's the best way (?) to edit the palettes on YI

Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Thank you, Arne! And I thought I was gonna use SNESPal. Whew!

Edit: There's no readme, how can I open it?

Edit2: NVM, just had to install Python 2.7.13

I wonder how the hell I never noticed about that tool

Wait... if Raiden got the source code for Pastel, maybe he could add it to his API!

Most python programs have source included. Being a scripting language, it's not compiled, and it's difficult (though possible) to obfuscate the code.
