I wasn't able to get to making my contest entry until a few days ago, but I can't decide on a theme for my level and I'd like some suggestions.

Here are the three ideas I've boiled down to:
-A sky level similar to Pseudogon's level
-A level that takes place in Peach's castle that uses this song
-An oriental mountain themed level

Which one would you guys like to see more? I'd like to make a decision soon so I can get started tonight.

I'd be impressed if you could pull off something oriental using vanilla assets, so go with that.

I was able to pull off a dope looking shrine gate. Take a look at this old screenshot.

As for the background I can't really do a Fuji kind of mountain as far as I know. Any suggestions?

Also not that anyone cares but this would be my music choice if I decided to do the Oriental level.

If you pick the second choice, you can probably make it haunted with ghosts judging by the song choice. An abandoned Peach's castle that has been taken over by ghosts would be a pretty interesting idea. I also like the oriental mountain idea, but I think the second option is the best way to go.

Oriental's the most interesting one, not something you see done often with vanilla. Peach's Castle is also a pretty unique idea but it honestly doesn't sound as cool.

The idea sounds fresh and all, but is it really possible to pull out a good piece with vanilla only resources? I can kinda picture some features in my mind but as for me I don't think it would go too far. You're free to prove me wrong, though.

I do really enjoy sky-themed levels, so it's always nice to play/see one. So if you ask me, go with Sky theme. It's also relatively easy to pull off, considering you don't have that much time left to work with.
