Tip: Unless you're making a Kaizo hack, don't make Mario die after cutting the goal tape.

Hey man, I DONT comment on hacks but I wanted to give you even more motivation. This hack actually looks good. I would actually play this.

A question: how much of the gfx did you do yourself? Just curious.

Regardless on what graphics you drew its all arranged so beautifully. I really hope the level design holds up. So yeah dont give up bro this is mental.

Edit, quick note. I like that the hack looks good but isnt pretentious as fuck by using quirky words noone would say in real life and isnt just aliteration spam. Good job man, keep it up

Thanks for the positive feedback! As for the graphics, just about all of the ExGFX are either ripped from other games, or drawn/edited by me. Not to say I've never used GFX drawn by others--The bamboo graphics used in Overgrown Shrine, for example, were drawn by sunwarrior25:

So very impressive. It all looks like it should be in the same game without looking trashy and over detailed. You should be very proud of this, man.

One of the only hacks I will play when it released lol

I don't generally try or comment on demos, but, this looks so impressive that I'll have to give it a go. Cheers!
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...a new level...!

Maplewood Forest 2: Switchcreak Swamp

As...you can probably guess, this stage's main gimmick are the switch blocks! By hitting a switch, an outline block of its corresponding color will become solid, allowing for some unique platforming segments.

Wow! This hack looks pretty freaking awesome! I really am looking forward to this one!

I'm excited to see how this progresses. In the screenshot, it's difficult to see the outlines of the red and blue blocks against the bright brown background. Would you consider darkening the background a bit?
Looks like it's already time for a new stage!

Maplewood Forest 3: Heart of Goldwood

Hm...what does that block do? And what is that strange bug-looking thing?!

Goin' up!

This stage introduces 3 new things: Scale platforms, Extending Blocks and Biddybuds!

Extending Blocks can extend up to 3 blocks outward in the direction that the arrow is facing, depending on how many times you hit them. This can be used to erase wooden blocks and reach new heights!
And the bug-like enemy in the first screen is a Para-Biddybud. When Mario approaches, they lift off the ground and fly in a straight line toward left. They're just a retextured Bronto Burt sprite.

Your environments never fail to impress. Beautifully decorated and cluttered in just the right way.

Lovin the autumn pokey btw. Keep it up man!

Decided to change up the final submap of the game...

The Realm of Dreams! Or rather, this hack's version of an abstract world. By conquering the Citadel of Nightmares, can Mario finally escape this world in ruin? And to those of you who have played the demo, yes, this place is connected to those strange sublevels you'd find in pipes, such as these:

Thoughts on the submap would be appreciated! The main overworld map is also being updated, buuuut I'll show that off some other time

--------------------

Since I've got nothing better to do right now, I thought I'd show off a couple of screens from the first stage of the Realm of Dreams...

Anyway, back to World D!

Very cool levels, when will the full version or the next demo out of curiosity because I would like to play these in new levels?

List Soundtrack - List Hacks

Mega Man X3 OSTs
Hm...I can't say when the full game will be out since I've still got a lot to do, but maybe I get the a demo out by the next C3? It all just comes down to how quickly I can make levels.
Regarding the status of the hack, there are still a lot of features I'd like to implement, such as cutscenes, bosses, overworld features...and I don't know how to implement any of those nor do I have anyone that can make them happen for me. So either I can spend a really long time making the hack as best I can, or I can just make it a standard level design hack...and considering I've pretty much been working on this for 4 years, I'd much prefer it be the former.

Man, it sure has been nearly 6 months since the last post, hasn't it...
Well fear not, the hack isn't dead just yet--I'm finally back and will be posting consistent updates! Probably. Anyway, I'm just here to show off the updated main overworld map:

Compare it to how it looked a year ago:

It's made quite a bit of progress, no?
Still a few errors here and there, and I'm still planning to add a few more decorations, but this is more or less what the final map will look like. There are 7 different worlds here--making 13 total worlds in the hack.

Since World of Dreams was moved to the main submap, I just decided to make the last submap a cave world again. Luckily, I was able to just polish up some older levels so I can finish up this world quickly and get back to the main submap. First off, we have:

Rock-Candy Cave 1: Swooper Shaft

More or less the same level it was 3 years ago, with a few tweaks. Nothing much to show here.

Rock-Candy Cave 2: Fuzzball Railway

An all-new level, featuring a new sprite: The skull kart! The skull kart moves forward automatically, but you can still jump over pits and enemies in it. Running into objects results in instant death, so you have to watch out for objects you see on the railroad.

Rock-Candy Cave 3: Urchins Underground

As the name implies, this level uses Urchins...underground. The first half has Mario jumping over Giant Urchins and swimming through their shoals...

...And the second half is an underwater section. Don't mind the weird scrolling status bar, I'll get that fixed soon. probably.

Rock-Candy Cave 4: Pipeline Sludgeway

Another updated level. Takes place in a sewer, with lots of pipes--some of which have Piranha Plants in them or move. This level also has a secret exit! I wonder where it is...

Great levels, but go ahead and use my ports for your hack #smrpg{y}

Mega Man X3 OSTs
Rock-Candy Mine 5: Ruby Ravine

Yet another updated level. Mostly focuses on rotating platforms and rock throwing Chucks.

Some new stages appear!

Rock-Candy Mine 6: Onyx Opengorge

An actually new stage at last. Probably the weirdest stage aesthetically I've done in a while, but I think it works out. This stage mainly uses logs that rise up from behind the cascades of sand, then fall to the bottom.

Rock-Candy Mine 7: Golden Getaway

A secret stage that you can find in Rock-Candy Mine 4. A short auto-scrolling stage that uses sinking platforms. Most importantly, though, this stage is completely littered with coins!
