They really should've chosen SplaTWOn and not Splatoon 2 as this sequels name. Wasted potential tbh. It sounds really dumb in english imo.
But all the new stuff that is coming with it is really appealing to me. The new dual weapons, the PvE Mode. Definetly looking forward to its release.

To me "Splatwon" sounds weird.
Sometimes it's just better to go with the simple route.
It might get confusing when people are actually talking about in a conversation or something (both have almost the same pronunciation).
And if one doesn't understand English, they will not even understand the pun (which isn't really all that clever).

Anyway, I really want to play this game.
I didn't play Splatoon because I never got a Wii U, so this is a must, this game looks fantastic.
And I'm already imagining the Splatfest!

Too soon.
The game hasn't even reached its full potential yet.
It's sad how companies treat their properties simply as money making means and forget that they're creating and splitting communities each time they release an iteration of a game.

Years from now with the release of Splatoon 4 the next iterations will have been made more accessible and the metagame of Splatoon 1 will have changed so much.

No, actually they needed a new game.
It's for a new console, if everything was just a port it would be pretty disappointing.

Besides, it's not too soon, the game was released in 2015, it's a good time for a new game, there's still a momentum since the last Splatfest on the Splatoon 1, and it really works well.

If they waited more, it would be easy for people to forget about it or something. It's important for it to come out now, it's a new console and the first game is still hot for a lot of people, so it creates hype and demand for a sequel would exist regardless.

And also, I'm pretty sure this it will take a long while from this game to another new Splatoon.
The Wii U boosted sales with Splatoon, but it was a little too late to save it. The game couldn't continue on a dead console.
With the game coming on a fresh new console, it's very likely a sequel for this game would only come years later on the Nintendo Switch's life, really later, maybe even on the final years, that's even if it comes at all.

Nintendo generally doesn't put a lot of the same series in the same console, at least not in short time gaps (except for Mario Party).

What I mean is that the game coming earlier, it will have a better lifespan and it will be able to be enjoyed for a longer time.

Street Fighter IV lasted 8 years; Melee is 16 years old and is more popular than ever;DotA is the same game with balance patches. However given the new console you're right. No better time than the present.

I'm guessing Overwatch would last a decade tho given Blizzard's dedication to Online and patches..

To me it seems that Nintendo is going to push Splatoon 2 along with ARMS as major eSports titles. With LAN and spectator modes allowing easy stream setups for tournaments, old weapons getting revamped and new, less "chaotic" special moves.

Do we know if different pants and hairstyles also have any effect on your character yet or is it purely cosmetic?

Yup, Splatoon 1 will die with the Wii U. At this point it is only a matter of time for Nintendo to pull the plug on Wii U's matchmaking servers (though there is always the possibility of the community keeping the game alive with homebrew and custom servers).

Meanwhile this game can potentially last for many years if Nintendo keeps a steady upstream of content through the Switch's lifespan. They pretty much have to if they want an eSports audience, or else risk the audience moving on to another game or simply losing interest.

Still waiting for that of a game. (Yes, I use a custom timer to see hype for this game.)

This article is kinda funny. The "journalist" who wrote that is confusing the manga series with the game series. They're claiming that the first game never came out of Japan and that the sequel will be the first to come in english worldwide. #fakenews

Splatoon is VERY popular in Japan, my guess is that they don't want fans who already bought a Switch to snag a Switch from a potential new Switch owner just for the box. So...let's talk about Splatoon 2's newest features. Aside from dualies (or dual weapons) to Salmon Run, from new stuff for the Octo Valley mode to

Callie turning eeeevil (OH NO!)

, the biggest feech that's super fly in this game is Splat Chat. The Splat Chat feature allows you to talk to your teammates via a custom-made headset and mixer, along with the Splat Chat app. The mixer (NOT splitter!) can be connected with the phone AND the Switch audio so you don't need to use a Y-splitter at all! Speaking of Splat Chat, however, you are restricted to chat to the people you may know, unless you're using Discord, it's definitely necessary.

The companion app won't just be for Spla2n, but for pretty much every online game on the Switch.

I hope it doesn't only do voice chat though, but be an overall companion app for the Switch in general. Give you and your friends status, browse and purchase games from eShop, show rankings in games, available maps in Splatoon, etc and maybe easy way of tethering to play online anywhere using your phone's networking.

Either way, their solution to voice chat is dumb only because you can't have the game's audio and the voice chat audio without that unofficial mixer (tho any mixer and headset should work just fine), it also looks awkward to use, having an aux cable stretch from the docked Switch and all. Poor iPhone 7 users wont even be able to use it!

Here's the first look at the Splat Chat Mixer. As I mentioned earlier, this Mixer can connect either to a phone or to a tablet PC and, OF COURSE, the Switch audio. Here's how it works: Splat Chat: The setup.

So, if you miss out on Forges- get a bunch of resistors, couple female jack connectors, a potentiometer and a soldering iron, not an audio splitter.

They had a missed opportunity here. The name, they could've called it Splatwon.

To be honest, "Splatwon" just works in English anyway.
And it looks visually weird in text.

I don't know what people have against just old-fashioned numbered sequels. I know it's probably more boring, but sometimes the simple is just more effective.

Since Nintendo games are worldwide now, I guess it helps keeping things simple to avoid confusion too.
