Touhou 16: Hidden Star in Four Seasons

We still care about Touhou, right?

Touhou 16 got announced earlier today and it's comming out in August (there will be a demo in May). Playable characters will be Reimu, Marisa, Aya and Cirno. And that's all the info there is, at least what I'm aware of.

Cirno looks a bit different, she's got a tan and flowers on her body, I wonder if ZUN will finally make Grass Cirno cannon. Regardless, I like her design

I'm not really a fan of the art for Reimu and Marisa though. Reimu's face in the title screen looks like she got crushed by a steamroller or something.
Character art has never been ZUN's speciality, but honestly he's gotten better over the years.
The screenshots for the game look gorgeous and I can't wait to play it! Though I guess my prediction of stage 5 characters become playable characters every time a new game comes out is false, but hey, I like the choice of characters in this one (Especially Cirno).

Yes.

There might be some sort of "seasonal" gimmick or something. Cirno is tanned and one of the screenshots says "Summer". Marisa has clothes that's suited for winter. Aya has the obligatory maple leafs so that's autumn. Reimu might be spring.
Also return of Spell Practice. nice

Can't wait for soundtrack. Demo should be like, out in less than one month I bet?
I know i'm gonna like it if Aya is in it.
Aya Shameimaru is the best 2hu
I just recorded the demo on Normal. I am currently recording the songs. It was interesting.

Just quickly played through the demo, I like being able to mix and match shot types. Winter Reimu is great. Cirno is unsurprisingly the
weakest
. Looking forward to the full version.

But god damn that second boss music is horrible. I hope it is less grating in the full version.

Played the demo, and apparently there really is a "seasonal gimmick", which is being able to select sub-weapons, but I didn't even know that you can use them lol. The difficulty is great. I was able to keep my lives until the Stage 3 boss caught me off-guard with
curvy lasers and being able to split/duplicate(?)
. Looking forward to the full version!

For music, idk yet, but Stage 3 music sounds nice.
Watched a lunatic 1cc of the demo and damn its good so far. Loving the atmosphere of this game and the music never fails to disappoint as usual, though I haven't listened to all of it. It looks slightly less insane as LoLK so hopefully I can actually make it through this game.

Also nice to see sub-weapons brought back.
Bump because the full game is out.

I haven't played it much, but I already managed to reach the last spellcard of the final boss without continuing. The game is far easier than LoLK, despite the curving attacks everywhere, but still challenging.

I liked how zun returned to using the score to give extra lifes, rather than some weird new gimmick. It gives you a reason to collect all those blue cards. And the game even tells you how many points you need for the next 1-up, which is nice.

Now I have to wait for the translation so I can understand what the fuck is going on.

Also, the final boss looks like the result of Koishi and Junko having a baby.

I really like the aesthetic of this game. The latter half of the game suddenly got brutal lol, but so far, it looks easier than DDC (can't compare to LoLK since it looks intentionally designed to be hard, given the existence of Pointdevice mode).

Seeing the previous stage's location during the final boss's fight was really amazing.
Also she removes your options on the final spellcard.
A bit late, but the game was announced for steam a few days ago and will be available next Friday.

There's no price yet and it seems the game will only be available in Japanese, but translation patches will probably work.

but touhou is anime!
(some of the Steam tags don't make sense anyway, lol)

Seems like a legit way to own a Touhou game. I'd consider buying it, but not now... not when I currently have the game and that I plan to buy a certain game with my current money. Added to wishlist at least.
