Rumor: Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga for 3DS. Thoughts?

For those of you who are not aware, a well known hacker has leaked that superstar saga is being remade for 3DS by Nintendo. To get caught up, check out this video. There's another one up on game explain as well.

So what do you guys think of this? Do you think it's true? And if you do, what do you think of the idea of doing so?

Tbh for me, Saga is a really good game, and so for them to release this now as another Mario and Luigi game, they're setting the bar pretty high compared to what they've been releasing for the Mario Luigi series recently. To me it's like releasing five Paper Mario Sticker Stars, and then out of the blue, remaking TTYD and adding it to the series. After something like that, can they really go back to the old way? Or are they setting the bar too high?

I think that's just awesome.
It makes sense to be for 3DS, since the GBA games are not compatible with that.

I feel like this is their goodbye to the 3DS before going to the Nintendo Switch.

So yeah, I'm all up for that, the game needed to be updated anyway.
It's great and all, but it needed a remake, I mean, the music and everything in that game is awesome, so it's basically all of that, but in a newer quality. I can't even wait to hear all the music remade!

Oh, and they're replacing the Mario Bros. Arcade game from it.
It's kinda sad to be honest, because I freaking love that one, but I can understand.

That's literally the one M&L game I never got to play. If this happens I'm 100% hype.
I personally could never get into the M&L games, but maybe I'd give this one another shot on 3DS.
Superstar Saga is my top 2 favorite game of all time, so yeah, I'll scream like a fan girl if that's ever confirmed.
Considering SciresM also found the Pokemon Sun/Moon game data in the Eshop months before being released and leaked the whole gen 7 pokemons around late November (including stats, moveset and pokedex icons), I dare say the chances of this being legit are super high.

Superstar Saga is pretty much the least likely Mario RPG game I expected to see a remake of. It's also super nostalgic to me for reintroducing me to RPGs in general, so consider me pumped as heck.

(Here's the leaked icon btw)

The one thing I'm wondering about is what exactly this "+ Bowser's Minions" will end up being. Will it remplace the Mario Bros arcade minigame that came packed with the game? Will they team up with the bros. and add more special attacks in the process? Will they be the giant/papercraft battles of the game?

Probably this. Nintendo is really picky about including classic games within games now. Don't wanna conflict with VC sales, I guess.

The game seems to be finalized so I'm expecting it to be announced during E3 and just maybe, they'll also release it that very moment much like Rhythm Heaven Megamix last year. Could also be a 2DS XL launch title.

That information actually came from the demo which Game Freak obviously didn't scrub all that well so "months" is more like a single month.

Fun fact: You can access Nintendo's CDN (eshop) yourself. Thing is insecure as fuck, as anyone can download from their servers, even through your browser on your PC.

Also: Twilight Princess HD was leaked in the same manner way back in October 2015 and was not released until March 2016.
I personally never played the game, but I only heard good things about it and loved Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story, so consider me in.

They better not add giant battles into this game, I swear. They were tolerable in Inside Story, but I can't stand that they've been in every game since, getting progressively worse. There's nothing enjoyable about breaking up the fast-paced action of M&L battles for a slow-paced touch-screen minigame where none of your stats even matter.

The giant battles weren't tolerable in Bowser's Inside Story. Why? The train fight, that's why.

Even today the janky mic controls are hard to master and I almost pass out after finally being successful with it.

That's nothing compared to the stupid gyro controls shoehorned in Dream Team's giant battles. I got stuck on the last battle for so long just because the controls would eventually broke at any moment, effectively forcing me to replay the whole thing for who knows who many times.

I would personally prefer they didn't add giant battles mostly because it would feel forced if the reason for their inclusion was only because the new games have them, without even fixing/polishing them (kinda like the whole children mechanic in FE Fates). Other than the broken gyro controls in DT and BIS's Fawful train, I don't hate them that much to be honest.

That's a good point. The fact both this game and Ever Oasis have been already registered on the Eshop imply that seems to be the case for both of them, the question is now just when.
The gyro controls are the sole reason I wasn't able to beat the boss rush. I fking hate those controls so much.
I hope they don't do anything to the original game itself, other than revamping it and maybe make some small little changes here and there, I guess?
But yeah, don't change the core game. Fucking don't, AlphaDream and Nintendo! Please!

The news is pretty exciting, I'm imagining a full-scale remake using the Dream Team engine. In that case, my only real concern is the gameplay becoming slower or clunkier, or the timing on bros moves not feeling right. malss was a fast game when you knew what you were doing, that's what I love about it.
