I think we should have a whole new area for NSMBW hacking along with the SM64, SMW, and YI hack areas! Instead of IPS patches, we could submit Riivolution patches for NSMBW hacking! What do you think

Signed, one great guy!
It didn't work before, I doubt it will work now.
is there an audience for it?

do we have methods of attracting that audience?

are there working, publicly available and accessible tools for it?

will that audience want to be a small subset of a much larger community?

will it sustain itself?

(read: no)

music stuff

i will be the first user to reach 10,000 posts and never be a staff member
I know this thread is a bit old. But I think it should be given another shot. I've just finally gotten around to trying it. I like it a lot. I don't think nsmbwii hacking is dead, it just needs a home.
Perhaps an alternative way to patch such xdelta should be considered. I will offer to moderate any nsmbwii hacks. I am able to load hacks with real hardware via disc or usb

There's nobody that actively does it on here, and we don't make a forum for 2 or 3 people. We tried hosting these before and it didn't work.
If there's interest but not too many people, then a single forum thread will do. If and only if there's too much interest for a single thread would they consider adding a whole new forum.
Actually not even a thread. See how dead this is.
Can you fly, sister? ~
There're not too many people who actively do NSMB Wii hacking on this site. If you want to discuss NSMBW hacking, you can add a single thread in the Gaming section and start your general discussion about NSMBW hacking. Certain people can share their ideas, levels, music etc.
No, I'm not MarioBros890!

That thread is not even remotely related, Mario maker has some neat things, but it doesn't have half the stuff. Anyway I'll make a thread in gaming or misc. rom hacks with some screen shots.

You missed the point. When there's not enough interest there's no point in making a "home" for a game in the site, no matter if it has a lot of content or not. Super Mario Maker and NSMBW Hacking are very different things indeed, but the two of them don't have enough of an audience to warrant site and staff maintenance, so that's why I used the former one as a case in point.

#smw{} Gotcha.

If it didn't work before what makes you think it's going to work now? I think I was around when it existed but I think I didn't join yet. Anyways the NSMBW Hacking community is really small. Even smaller than the Yoshi's Island hacking community. Barely anybody hacks it at all since it's a Wii game and Wii/Gamecube Games rarely get hacked. So I think this would fail again.

Here's the Straw Poll For the sequel of Super Spongebob World. Vote now!
I like Mario but I like Sonic more.
Here's My YouTube Channel help me out and subscribe to my channel!
Here's My Deviantart Page!

My Halloween Drawings.
I'm leaving. Goodbye!

The reason it didn't work before is because support for hacking the game dropped really quickly here. The people who were once staff and moderated both the forum and sections either lost interest or became inactive as they both had their role on RVLution as well (which didn't last very long either, place has been dead for well over a year now).

On top of that, ever since the WiiU and 3DS became hackable, people have been spending most of their time trying to make modding tools for several games. NSMB U and NSMB2 were two of those games, it's also where most peoples attention goes to now instead of NSMB Wii.
As much as I hate to say it seeing as I hacked NSMB Wii a lot and loved it, the scene is dead, and having two or three people show interest all of a sudden isn't going to revive it. Ofcourse, you're still free to hack NSMB Wii in any way you want, but you shouldn't be counting on any feedback or help from anyone.
