Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (+switch core games confirmed)

I don't think I'll get US/UM unless they do change a lot of things from S/M, which I doubt. I don't feel like going through Alola all over again.

Pokken DX sounds tempting, I never played the original and I'm already saving for a switch, so I'll probably get it someday.

I was hoping Game Freak was moving away from third versions, and we'd get a sequel again or something but I guess not!

The details were very vague, we don't know what exactly this game will entail. I don't know what to say besides that it looks like a bit of both a sequel and third version, hopefully they'll clear some things up at E3 which is thankfully soon. They did say it takes place in an alternate universe, so I imagine there will be some multiverse fuckery going on with the story. Since "Ultra" is in the title, I guess the ultra beasts will have a bigger presence in the story, too. Willing to bet we'll see more UBs (and alola forms) in this game, too.

it's very clearly a sequel tho

So yeah, turns out my lack of expectations were mostly right. lol

But yeah, you know, it's not even related just to this game in general, but I really find annoying how people are just bitching like hell about everything that Nintendo puts on 3DS and isn't on the Nintendo Switch.

Like, chill, let the 3DS have a good dignified death.
I'm pretty sure they're giving it a goodbye, and that this or next year might just be 3DS's last hurrah.

Think about it, there's also the Mario and Luigi RPG remakes coming sometime.

And this is happening, they can later focus on the Nintendo Switch.

This is not the first time it happens, Nintendo never dead right stops a console. They generally give it a last goodbye in a year.

And then only random third parties titles, minor spin-offs and download simple titles remain going on the console.

In the case of 3DS, I'm sure its last goodbye will be in 2018.
And maybe still keep going with random third party games for some years too (just for an example, the last DS game was like in 2015).

Back to the subject of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
I'm glad they're doing what they're doing.

Besides, it would be just rude to release a ultimate version for the next console in one year. Considering a lot of people just bought Sun and Moon and it was on the end of 2016 anyway.

Doing these sequels for the 3DS is the best thing they could do.

It gives them more time to actually make Nintendo Switch's Gen 8 later. You know, in an update console, with a new engine, new graphics and etc.

As much as I like BW2 necrozmas new forms straight up look like a rehash of Kyurem in BW2. So far it looks like pretty much the same game apart from that, I usually just hate the cover legendaries so I really have no reason to be hyped except that it's coming out pretty soon.

Pokken and G/S on VC are Ninteno's birthday present to me #smw{;)}

B) They're planning to release Crystal after people buy Gold or Silver and hope people double dip.

This is the answer right here. Have you ever seen the NA eshop charts? Pokemon Yellow is in first place almost every single time. They are straight up losing money on Red and Blue by even having Yellow as an option and I'm sure they won't be making that mistake again.

They did say it takes place in an alternate universe

Did they really say it like that? If I remember correctly, they only said "experience an alternate story in Alola". That doesn't necessarily have to mean an alternate universe. It can just mean "experience a story different from what you experienced in the previous games".
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
unless it's like B2W2 where it takes place after the first ones it's defs an alternative universe
It's disappointing. I was hoping they would announce a main game on the Switch, because I want a Switch but not enough to buy it with only one game (only other game I want is Mario Odyssey).

Good news is I don't have to buy another console to play, I guess.
I honestly think will give more detail later.
It's just really hard to know what the game is all about.

Like, right now, they literally didn't say much.
And that's really weird.

But remember how a lot of things about Sun and Moon were revealed as time went by? Alola forms, things and shit.

So I don't think it will be any different.

They never release a Pokemon game on any console's first year.
But give it a year and it will certainly happen.
Maybe next year, maybe 2019.

The new Solgaleo and Lunala look like they've fused with Necrozma. Anyone else notice that?

Oddly, you're right.
Looking closely, you can definitely see the similarities.
Damn, impressive observational skills you got there.
Kinda strange, it really makes me think on what kind of game this will turn out to be.
Black/White 2 was one of my favorites, so I'm liking that it looks like they're taking that approach with Ultra Sun/Moon. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out, but I'm very interested.

lol pokken

In the Nintendo spotlight they confirmed that a new core RPG title is in development for Switch but that it might take some time for them to be completed. So I expect a 2019 release at the very least.

Pretty sure this is Gen 8 we're gonna see, but we're gonna have to stick to Ultra Sun and Moon for the time being. It's gonna be a while until we see the first HD console core Pokemon title, I hope they go for something completely different for the overworld and make it a little more open.
To be honest, it was pretty obvious it was going to happen.
The Switch is the next true handheld, but Game Freak doesn't release games on a console's first year.
Basically, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are their last goodbye to the 3DS, then they can work on the Switch.

It takes a lot of time too, making a new engine, getting used to the new hardware, new region, new characters, new music, etc.

My biggest hope is that this new game ditches the previous 3D engine and has a new one that doesn't run like shit, really. No excuse for having such horrible frame drops when you're displaying like 4 3D models on the screen at once.

I'm pretty sure they will.
The Switch is leagues more powerful than the 3DS, it would be really weird if they didn't change it.

My guess is that the bad framerate was the result of certain graphical effects or something like that. Maybe even the high resolution of the Pokemon models. In any case, both of these things shouldn't be a problem on Switch. They have to do really badly to make the games run unsmoothly on the Switch.

I wonder if the Ultras will be the last games released on the 3DS. At the very least the last Nintendo games released on 3DS.
