I was wondering if there was more to the addmusic application than is stated in S.N.N.'s document. I have downloaded Java 6 and followed the instructions to insert the music, but I get the message:

'Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: AddMusic'

Have I missed a patch/update for Java? Is there some other step I need to follow?

A lot of you are nuts.
Most of the time that error actually has nothing to do with Java. I've seen it happen because of the following reasons:

1. The ROM is larger or smaller then 1MB.
2. The ROM has spaces in it's name (just name it smw.smc to fix this)
3. You are typing the path incorrectly, and/or finding the wrong destination.

My best guess would be the second one - it usually always it. Check them all though and see which was the error.
Put your ROM, along with addmusic.bat and the song TXT's in your C:\ drive.

Open command prompt and type "cd C:\" then do the addmusic smw.smc INIT.
I have tried each of your suggestions to no avail.

I think the reason for this error may be that my ROM file is expanding to 1025 kb when I either use lunar expand or lunar magic to expand it from 513 kb. The doc told me to use a ROM that was 1024 kb. Is there some way that I can remedy this issue? It seems like quite a tease to be off by 1 kb.

No, it should be that size. Hmm..

What are you typing exactly? I may be able to spot the problem then.
I type: addmusic smw.smc INIT

EDIT:
I went on a whim and re-downloaded the addmusic application. This time it worked! Thanks so much for your suggestions! I appreciate the help!
