Hello people, And I'm going to show my first hack (which I show to the public, because I already tried to do several and I rejected all of them too), this hack is called Waluigi Wadventure, This hack for now only has the first level complete, Mushroom Hills 1. That is a semi-tutorial level, this semi-tutorial will teach you some new and old mechanics, such as:

The Purple Coins, which if you follow them in the correct order, you can gain an extra life:




The Dotted Blocks, which are like common blocks, but you only stay on top of them if you activate them:



Running on smaller platforms more easily holding B + Y:



DYING IN UNFAIR WAYS IN KAIZO STYLE TRAPS!!!!!!





And a new skill, The Wall Jump:

That's just it for now, I'm going to demonstrate more phases in the future, I'm slow enough to have new ideas and create levels, all I want is patience. Feedback is welcome.

Well, this seems to be a nice tutorial level. For now, the 5th-from-last screenshot looks kind of bland. Othet than that, very good j9b!

But not ALL hacks have wall jumps. Tutorial shows that this hack does have it.

This semi-tutorial is just to demonstrate some new mechanics even, for the player doesn't get confused in the future, but it also works as a common level too, with various obstacles and secrets. Oh, and I forgot to show my logo in the game:

The point of tutorial levels is to show off that a hack contains some custom stuff like patches, sprites or blocks.


The U letter looks more like V or it's just me. Other than that, good job!

And another gimmick was added, The Purple Rope, you can get down on it by pressing down.



Now the world 1 has a name: Mushroom Hills, in addition, I have one more level to show, Mushroom Hills 2, , this level is based on Pokeys, they are slow, but will try their best to disrupt the player in many ways :



You can deflect them, but you can also counter them with Koopas Shells or with traps:

I really like how this looks so far

The title screen really looks better now. Mushroom Plains 2 has a very good background. Also, nice maths! Great job overall!

By the way, I created a userbar, I think it was cool until :



If anyone wants the userbar code just let me know.

Edit: I discovered that you can edit the Status Bar palettes, now the word "Waluigi" is in the color purple, matching more with Waluigi than the green color (the old color, which you can see in previous screenshots):



It's a pretty simple modification even, that's why I edited my current post instead of making a new one (and to avoid double post as well).

^I really like that background.

I don't think I've seen many hacks featuring Waluigi, so make sure you make him different enough from Mario (walljumping is good, but Mario's already done it many times), or at least give him a different role and personality.

The first level looks good, pokeys are a good enemy to base an easily level on since they're slow and not much of a threat by themselves. Although I have to say, the last screen looks a bit empty compared to the other ones.

Seeing Waluigi (Or Wario) in hacks takes me back to when I first joined SMWC and there was a lot of hacks that featured these two characters however most of them did not reached completion.

I like how the tutorial level explains to the player how to control Waluigi in a "natural" way rather than just a bunch of Message Boxes.

Nice work I'm looking forward to what else you add to the hack but also to character Waluigi to make him stand out against Mario.

Cool is a very good level, just as you will add music it also proposes it from my took.

Why do you need to have maths in the background

Yes, I'm going to try to make a different personality to Waluigi, about a new gameplay, I was thinking of adding an HP style Zelda system or even Mega Man X with this patch, and add some new power ups too.


Yes, there will be a boss fight against Mario (or Luigi) in the hack, be sure about it.

For now, I do not have any screenshots to show, today I just added some patches that fix the game, and a failed attempt to try adding one and other Ground Pound patch. :S
But in the future I will show some screenshots of the hack.

Ok, after a few days without working too much in the hack, I decided to finally start doing the third level of the hack, Mushroom Hills 3.

This is a very simple cave level, with some Buzzy Bettles, Piranha Plants and Gombas coming out of turn blocks, and this is the first level that hides a secret exit:



In addition to this level, I can confirm that the game will have automatic save, so you don't have to worry about having to enter several specific phases just to save the game.

This seems a bit too normal for a Waluigi hack, but it does look very tasty.

For a Waluigi hack, looks pretty simple, but the level design has some good taste. What does that fish in the second screen do?

Because of exploding turn block sprite. Y'know, that have Goomba, Koopa and fish.
