Looks pretty nice. I like the idea of combining a forest theme and a beach theme together. It would be nice if there was some icebergs or some other type of decoration in the water, but it looks fine as it is.
New level! Koopa Island 1! This is a very simple beach level, at that level the focus is on the football balls, where their rng have been removed,
low jump, mid jump and high jump! See the screenshots:
Also, I plan to introduce a new power up at this stage, the boomerang suit, but I'll need someone to draw Waluigi's GFX using it, for anyone who is interested in doing this, send me some PM for me, so I can give you the necessary files for this, I will give credit.
I like this hack! I always really liked tutorial levels, I don't know why. Your overworld is definitely better than what I make, even though I never show them because mine is super plain. It is awesome that you added the football patch! Overall, good hack!
Did you think the hack was dead? TOO BAD!! WALUIGI TIME!!
Okay, I think I've had enough time to show some new level to the hack, Koopa Island 2. This is a very simple forest level, with several Wigglers, goombas in bubbles and lakitus, this is also the first level that has the copy capsules (inspired in the Kirby games, I'll try to make these capsules a little rarer) and the feather (but you can't fly like in the original game, to avoid the possibility of the player to break several stages without effort). Here some screenshots:
In addition to the level, I would like to mention that I lightly changed the name of the hack to Waluigi Wah-Adventure, a very simple exchange anyway, this is more because whenever I search Waluigi Wadventure, google fixes to Adventure, this new name will probably go avoid this problem. And unfortunately, I canceled the idea of the Boomerang Suit, because I had trouble inserting it, I'll probably use it on some other hack, but not on that, unfortunately.
Now I hope I don't take another month to get more news about the hack.
I know I'm bumping this a bit, but I poked my head in after not playing a lot of hacks since the earlier 2000's.
I did play this Demo (though I think world 2 was not included in the download for files?), and it was a fun little time. I by no means claim to be an expert of any of this, but as a fan of SMW, and platformers a like, I didn't have too much to complain about. The music choice was nice, the aesthetic, and I believe custom graphics (?) were appealing.
I had issues executing any of the running gap sections, and had to jump them. That's my only complaint, but it could be as simple as I didn't pull off a move right, but I believe it was just for a lack of running room.
I'm not going to come here and plug my channel, since I really just do it for hobby (and I'm not going to be that guy), but I did record it, and you can probably find it if you search, but it's an easier collection of my thoughts anywho.
I also couldn't find the level 3 secret exit? I'll figure it out.
Let me know if there is a download for world 2, and/or when you make more. Keep going, I'd like to see more!
Three months... I really have to be a bit faster with my hack...
But I have some news to give, one more level has been completed. Koopa Island 3! This level uses a new type of block that only Monty Moles can destroy, and this is introduced at the beginning of the level.
Knowing this, you need to cooperate with Monty Mole by building blocks or clearing the way for progress.
And this is the first level that introduces the R doors, they work like a reset, so if you did something wrong on the level like kill the Monty Mole, you know where to go.
Now a few extra screenshots about the level:
And I have another news to say, the hack will have a second demo with two worlds and 17 exits. I intended to release it for the next C3, but I have very little time to do it now, so it's going to take a little longer to launch.
But I have a question, is it too difficult to change the Romi Spritetool's sprites to PIXI sprites? Because I have not added any new sprites to the hack after the changes, is it possible for me to use the same rom I have and swap the Romi sprites for PIXI or do I have to use a new rom for this? Nevermind, all the sprites I've used in the previous demo have their PIXI version, so the problem should already be solved.
