Hey there everyone,

it is about time. Time to reveal the first (finished) hack Iīve ever made. Itīs called IUDICIUM TRIBUNALIS. I donīt know if youīre interested in its background story, but Iīll tell you either way:

History:
IUDICIUM TRIBUNALIS is a hard kaizo hack made between October 2015 - February 2016. Now you may ask why it took time until June 2017 to release it? There are 2 simple reasons:
- First of all this hackīs primary intention was to torture the player as much as possible. This includes that there were some pretty unfair parts. Knowing SMWCīs hack-acception rules, I knew that, as long as these unfair parts arenīt left out / improved my hack would be rejected for this reason alone.
- Second this hack was breakable. Many breaks were just minor ones, which didnīt have much influence and didnīt allow huge skips. On the other hand there was 1 break (in a gigantic puzzle level) that let you skip about 50% of the level and knowing that kaizo-hacks should be as unbreakable as possible this would be the 2nd reason for a rejection.

I still cannot explain why that a long time had to pass until I found motivation to re-design my hack. Nonetheless it was June 2017 when Iīve decided to finish my old creation. So Iīve scanned each level for possible breaks and unfair parts and tried to fix everything. Nonehtheless youīll still find several parts that are a bit unfair and maybe some parts are still breakable, but compared to my 2016-version I definitely made some huge improvements.

What can you expect:
9 stages of hard kaizo difficulty. Iīd say the stages are quite long (especially the puzzly levels), so this hack definitely pushes your patience to its limits. I also tried to create a difficulty curve and even if I wasnīt entirely successful with this, you can at least say the difficulty increases per world. So 9 levels were split up to 3 worlds.

I also should add, that this hack has 2 "major" gimmicks.
- This hack is bilingual. This means the level names are latin, but the message boxes are written in english. Yeah I was very inconsistent back then, but I think the latin names are cool and I donīt have the motivation to translate the message boxes to latin (also nobody would understand what Iīm saying then :O) so personally Iīm fine, that the hack is bilingual and I have no intention to change it right now.
- Every stage has a "last resort" room. This means that at the end of every stage thereīs a room with a (more or less) close time limit. Well, the time limit is probably the only thing that makes the rooms difficult, but I donīt want to remove my "ULTIMA RATIO"-rooms (as they are called), because they sometimes have very neat kaizo-traps in my opinion :D

Screenshots and videos:
This was quite a wall of text I admit, but the most important things should be said now. If you still have any questions donīt hesitate to ask.

However, now it is about time to show you some screenshot so you get visually impressed (or not :P). So enjoy some screenshots of the title-screen, the OW and the first level (brief remark: this isnīt the postīs end. Scroll down for a video):

Title screen + world 1 OW:

A level that includes 4 Yoshis and green berries. The time limit isnīt too close, though:

Your first kaizo goal trap. Timing is everything:

Iīm also going to try to upload 1 Level per day on my Youtube channel (be sure to subscribe). I guess the upload time is going to be about 3am UTC (no promises though). Today I started with a video of the title-screen and the Yoshi-House. Tomorrow Iīm going to upload Level 1 then. But without any futher ado:

Hereīs video 1

I hope you enjoy. Feel free to tell me your opinion (probably more about the scrennshots, since this video doesnīt show that much >w<)[/b

Interesting tutorial level. Are the levels possible without savestates? Is the hack more fun with savestates? Is there more focus on platforming and precision or puzzles?
This concept is interesting. The tutorial level is really handy to get used to some glitches, although you could maybe also introduce more of them if there are more than what's shown in the level. Really hoping to see more levels from this~
You mention your hack is a hard kaizo, but are the levels actually possible without savestates or other tools? I assume the empty message box text is also intentional?

Thank you. As i said it introduces you to many glitches, but not all of them. Maybe iīll add the missing ones to the tutorial stage, but since they are only 2 or 3 (canīt recall corrently currently. Have to re-watch my own hack again to confirm this estimation) i donīt know if this is really necessary, since you should get used to this hackīs execution of "item-abuse" quite soon.

My plans are to reveal 1 level per day, so your hopes will definitely fulfilled #tb{;)}

#wario{>:|} No! Absolutely not without savestates! #wario{>:|}
Apart from that it depends on your skill. You donīt need frame advance or something like that, but although I was able to finish every stage without slowdowns I recommend using these, too

Yes it is. Thereīs nothing to say. If you download this hack you should be already prepared to suffer! #smw{x_x}

Edit: Oops. Overlooked FTīs comment. Iīm blind. #tb{'_'}
To answer your question (at least the one which differs from Katerpieīs):

Iīd say you canīt seperate. This hack includes both and every stages demands both. The only thing that varies is to what extent performing precise jumps / solving puzzles is required. There are 2 stages that almost solely focus on precision, but there are also 2 stages that are almost solely puzzles. But thereīs no level that really focuses on only one of these things. But since Iīm going to upload 1 stage every day youīll see soon enough #tb{;)}

--------------------

I liked your tutorial level. Hope to see you submitting this hack some day. What about the difficult curve? Was it first inconsistent so you had to make some moments either easier or harder or change the order of your levels?
I was going to make a Roll art thread for this winter's C3, but I've been really busy last time, due to school in particular. Sorry guys!

World 3 is harder than world 2, which is harder than world 1, so this is fine. The only thing thatīs inconsistent are the levels the world contain. E.g. Level 2 is easier (and way shorter) than level 1. Level 4 is way longer than level 5 and so on. Nonetheless the feeling of dfficulty may vary from player to player of course, too.

New video: Stage 1 - SPECUS SACRIFICII

A level that starts relatively simple to lull the player into a false sense of security. But you soon recognize the low time limit, which is this stageīs gimmick. I think, I should remove 1 or 2 berries in the final product, because i definitely provide more than enough.

It also features every kind of Yoshi and some (minor) puzzles, requiring to use their abilities.

And i know the BG-palette is pretty ugly. Gonna fix that soon, too #tb{:p}

Btw: The levelīs name means: "The Victimīs Cave"

Preview: Screenshots of stage 2 (mostly featuring precise jumps):

--------------------

As always you fulfilled my expectations after all :p

Yeah, remove some green berries since they aren't really necessary from what I could watch. Only provide them if you're low on time. That seems like a good puzzle level nonetheless.

The sound of that castle containing nothing but precise jumps sounds a bit iffy if I'm to judge from the screenshots, but as long as you think of some clever ideas that don't just involve them solely, then I'm fine with that!

This castle is a very short stage compared to the rest of the hack, so alone because of its length donīt expect too much. I also admit that this stage (and the switch palace) are the most uncreative levels, too (I still wouldnīt call them "bad" though, but Iīm the creator so this statement doesnīt mean to much #tb{:p}). The only "cool/cruel" thing this level does is this little bait here. Since you need a P-Switch once you enter the Pipe you have to find an other way, to get there. But youīll see more tomorrow: #tb{;)}

--------------------

The level was quite nice. I particularly liked the final kaizo trap and some of the yoshi puzzles. The waiting at the forest part of the level seems very excessive-- instead maybe reduce the time limit and just have the pipe where the green parakoopas are.

Thank you for your compliment. Your advice is also quite good. Havenīt thought of that before and it definitely wouldnīt hurt to shorten the 1st room. I think i gonna do this.

So now letīs move on to our regularly sheduled daily video:

New video: Stage 2 - FERRUM OCCIDENTIS

The level name means "Sword of the West". Sword as a metaphor for all these spikes...

Ok. I know this stage is way too short compared to other stages. I know itīs boring and itīs uncreative, but its only purpose is to test, if the Player is able to perform some (more or less) tricky jumps. This stage doesnīt have an other reason for its existence.

But the next stage is going to be great again! I promise! #tb{;)} Have some screenshots as a preview:

This stage has an outside part, requiring some precise jumps...:

...and a cave part, presenting a tricky puzzle:

And when you finally passed everything, you ascend to heaven, where a ballon-puzzle awaits you:

--------------------

This stage looks slightly more creative and has more creative setups than stage 2. Precision as the first part and puzzling as the second one is a really good idea! Waiting for a video
I was going to make a Roll art thread for this winter's C3, but I've been really busy last time, due to school in particular. Sorry guys!
I'd cut all the waiting at the end and just go straight to making a different trap if I were you. And yeah, it's good but slightly uncreative, but hopefully the next level will be even better in terms of creativity (seems like it is already).
Keep it up!
After yesterdayīs short and relatively boring castle itīs time for something neat again today:

New video: Stage 3 - PUMEX AETHERIS

The level name means "Stone of Heaven". "Stone" because the 2nd cave is a puzzle that revolves around a Chuckīs rock. "Heaven" because the last room is a P-Balloon Puzzle (yeah itīs far-fetched to call something Heaven, just because you have the ability to fly there #tb{:p}). This was also the first stage Iīve created for this hack #tb{'U'}

Stage 4 is going to be a huge water-puzzle, so maybe the screenshots arenīt that interesting:

Can you resolve the mystery of the red coins?:

As a reward when you solved the puzzles a race requiring precise movements against close time awaits you:

--------------------

#smw{O_O}
Water level looks really good. Keep this up!
I was going to make a Roll art thread for this winter's C3, but I've been really busy last time, due to school in particular. Sorry guys!
This is not the best kaizo level I've ever seen, but it's creative nonetheless!

I guess itīs quite a tough challenge to create the best kaizo level ever seen, but thank you that you acknowledge my creativity nevertheless.

--------------------

New video: Stage 4 - FLUMEN VITAE [part 1]
New video: Stage 4 - FLUMEN VITAE [part 2]

The level name means "River of Life". Only because of the 1-UP you have to generate in the 2nd half.

Itīs an underwater puzzle-stage. Unfair and complex, straining your patience. Not much else to say. Had to upload 2 videos, because i cannot upload videos longer than 15 minutes (yes this stage takes a while)

Also have your stage 5 preview here:
A stage that revolves around Layer-2-shenanigans and riding line-guided saws:

The goal-trap must be some Layer-2-mischief too:

--------------------

You can extend your videos' length on YouTube so you can upload longer videos (longer than 15 minutes). I've extended the length already.

Also really nice level with saws!

How is Flumen Vitae the second stage? Have you replaced the castle one? Or have you mistaken in order of the levels?

I liked your water level. It's a creative puzzle, but some waiting could've been shortened. In the second half carrying Yoshi and P-switch was almost like item babysitting, but it's not a real deal. Otherwise, amazing level!

Stupid Copy-Paste-Mistake #smw{-_-2} Itīs stage 4, not stage 2.

Thank you for your compliment. I worried that this stage would be quite boring.
And youīre right about the item babysitting issue, but since the 2nd half includes sprite-slot-abuse (latent, not enforced abuse) this half had to be that long and itīd be difficult to shorten things.
