New video: Stage 5 - HERBAE TENEBRARUM

The level name means "Herbs of Darkness" and the entire stage is about timing and line-guided saw-jumps. Since the BG is black the latter is harder than it sounds.

Stage 6 is going to be a castle again. And just like the previous one it´s again about precise jumps. But in contrast to stage 2 it is longer, includes a somehow puzzly 2nd half and it´s more difficult of course:

The level name means "Agony of the North", because the level´s precise jumps will make you suffer. But if you pass this level you were able to perform the hardest jumps this hack requires.
The 2nd half and puzzly half shouldn´t be too difficult if you solved FLUMEN VITAE before.

Speaking of puzzles. The next stage is going to be a long puzzle again:

You seem to like your puzzle levels from what I could realize throughout this thread :P

I dig this level so far and how fun it is as it goes on. It reminds me of that one level in World of Pain. That koopa surrounded by pipes could be made so it's in sync with the koopa you free from above. I don't think the first blue door serves any purpose other than just staying there for the sake of it, and you apparently don't seem to use it for anything.

Now that you mention it, this level indeed has some similarities to World of Pain´s 2nd stage, lol.

The 2 green Koopas are in sync already (they start at the same X-Position), but the upper one has to walk a distance of 2 blocks more than the other one, so this may make it look desynced?

The 1st blue door (I assume you mean that one at the long bullet bill jump) is a reset-door since sometimes the bullet bills don´t spawn (don´t know the reason for this #tb{:(}).

And yes I like to design puzzle-levels (who would´ve thought this of someone who released a hack called "My little Puzzles 2) and so we come to our next puzzle-stage:

The level name means "The Mind´s Wings" and it´s perhaps the most complex puzzle level you´ve ever seen (depends on how many puzzle levels you saw already #tb{:p}). It also uses some unfair tricks, too and has a lot of dead ends (not shown in the video of course). Use all your knowledge to beat this stage or just follow my solution #tb{:p} It´d also be more convenient if Pokeys were moving faster #tb{:DD}

The next level is going to be a very short switch palace. It´s really nothing great, so I won´t show screenshots. Instead I´m going to upload the switch palace and the other exit for PENNAE MENTIS tomorrow.

I´m also going to upload a trailer for C3. So if you´re interested check my thread I´ll create then, too #tb{;)}

Your level with pipes looks really good. It looks like one of World of Pain stages, indeed. I'm assuming this part with Koopa requires a glitch? Is this new or old because it doesn't seem completely familiar to me.

Do you mean this part? If yes, the explanation how it works should be pretty obvious.

If you refer to an other part I´d need a further explanation what you mean, because Koopas are used relatively often in my hack :D

Yeah, I do.

Also your last level is one of the most complex puzzles I've ever seen. Although some sections seem tedious to wait, particularly with Pokey. You can increase Pokey's speed in Tweaker.

You may be right, that the red is slightly eye-searing. Maybe you want to give feedback again once i upload the video?

Luckily it won´t be too difficult to desaturate the palettes, if you or others think, the red is too bright #tb{:j}

Yeah, the switch palace is pretty uncreative, but at least it's a short break from the [long] puzzle levels.

I really like how you did the normal exit of that level, but you should maybe keep the player from waiting that long after collecting the star before the wings.

Well now, here is it. The final stage:

The "Tribunal´s Judgement" has it own outside part and the 2nd half is a revision of the previous 7 Levels then.

And now?:
Every stage is uploaded so I could straight submit it and wait for its moderation, on the other hand everyone of you noticed, that this hack has it flaws, so now it´s time for me to improve the parts, that were criticized by the few persons, which followed this Project.

Thank you very much again for all the feedback. It´s always a motivation, if someone comments, no matter if this is a "hey this stage cool" or a "this stage has potential but this and that is uncreative". Positive and negative feedback is always welcome #tb{:]}

So I hope you´ve enjoyed watching my hack, too. I´ll try to fix the mentioned issues as fast as possible and then i release the hack for moderation. May the IUDICIUM TRIBUNALIS have mercy on your soul #tb{:]} (in other words have a nice day and see you soon with some improvements #tb{;)})

If hack-moderation wouldn´t take so much time I would´ve come up earlier with this, but here´s my To-Do-List of things that have to be fixed / improved / added. If you can think of anything that´s missing here or think there are some unnecessary items on this list, don´t hesitate to tell me. As you know I´m always open for feedback. The only issue is to what extent i can execute it:

- HORTUS AMICI:
- Introduce the player that Yoshi can spit items through walls, that have a 1-block width
- Introduce the player that Koopas can be thrown upwards while they get in their shell
- Introduce the player that you can get a powerup, that is placed on a cloud, without landing on the cloud after collecting it
- Introduce the player that blue throwblocks can be taken through pipes and will last eternally then
- Introduce the player that enemies can walk on slanted lava
- Introduce the player that a vine can eat through a cloud
- Introduce the player that you can grab a blue throwblock while simultanously jumping off from it
- Introduce the player that you can duplicate a P-switch using Yoshi

- SPECUS SACRIFICII
- redo the palettes

- FERRUM OCCIDENTIS
- There´s a "breakable" jump in the 1st half.
- Remaster the goal trap

- FLUMEN VITAE
- Maybe shorten the vertical part where you swim upwards

- HERBAE TENEBRARUM
- Remaster the waiting section before the goal

- CRUX BREAE
- (re)move the reset-door
- make the green Koopa visible that currently walks above the screen, that´s needed to get a red Koopa / a disco shell then

- IUDICIUM TRIBUNALIS
- Fix a cutoff in the "HERBAE TENEBRARUM"-allusion room

edit: removed the frame to fix the table stretch

Really swell final level. I like how challenging and clever it is, especially the beginning.

I don't think introducing the fact that enemies can walk on sloped lava is necessary. I assume we can figure that out by ourselves. Only introduce the more tricky and miscellaneous stunts like you did in the tutorial level. Otherwise, I think this should be good!
Thanks for the feedback. The first part of my final level seems to be quite outstanding.

Following my todo-list here are the upates on the first 2 Levels:

HORTUS AMICI:
4 New rooms to introduce you to almost every glitch now, this hack demands.

1st:
- You learn, that you can grab a powerup on a cloud, without landing on the cloud, though. As you can see you have infinite retries.
- Additionally I nuked the room which introduced you to the water-activating/deactivating bars. They´re used here instead.


2nd:
- This room introduces you, that you can grab and simultaneously jump off a blue throwblock. This room shall also teach you, that a blue throw block lasts forever when taken through a pipe.


3rd:
- This is where you find out, that a throwblock lasts forever when you take it through a pipe. It may be boring waiting for the P-Switch, but you have at least minimal entertainment above your head, watching the kicked shell. Also if you wait long enough (= about the half of the P-Switch timer) the shell will hit the ?-Block. This is necessary to get a 1-UP in this room #tb{;)}


4th:
- Yoshi can spit an item through a 1-block-wide wall.
- Enemies can walk on slanted lava. They´ll die in plane lava, though.
- Vines can eat through clouds.




SPECUS SACRIFICII:
As planned i changed the palette. It´s less bright now and is relatively pleasant to look at compared to the previous palette. The bushes are so loud, so you see it better (since you need then for your time berries, they should protrude, I´d say):




I also nuked the part, where you had to duplicate a P-Switch with Yoshi, so i don´t have to add this anymore.
I also won´t add the throwing up the Koopa-glitch, because there´s no setup, which really requires you to do exactly this and so I cannot introduce it properly.

If you didn´t notice, this hack is eventually released. You can find it here. I know this hack still has some minor flaws (as the moderator Katerpie pointed out). However, I think I´ll continue working on my Light-Kaizo hack first, before I try to update this one again. For now I´m relieved that this one is released.

Thanks again everyone, who gave feedback. I think, compared to ver.1.0 I appreciably improved it with every criticism that was mentioned here
