The hack came back!

Also it's a really nice castle level. Only one nitpick. At 0:50 here's a little net cutoff. Other than that, I enjoyed watching this level.
Any reason as to why 7 Up has different logos in USA and the rest of the world?
Thanks for pointing out the cutoff, Rainbow Star. It's now fixed.

With that out of the way, it's time to move on to Coffee Coast.

COFFEE COAST 1

It's a beach world, and it introduces the custom sprite Cheep-Cheeps that move like Dolphins.

It also introduces Hammer Bros. This was inspired by the name of the music track I chose for this level: Summer Hammer Time by Blind Devil.

Oh brother!

Here's the Coffee Coast Submap.

One of the clouds on background is slightly cutoffed. The level itself looks a empty on decorations. Also those cheep-cheeps that are dolphins can't be burned. It doesn't seem to be intensional, so you can fix it with CFG editor. (unless you get glitchy GFX when kill those)

Yeah, I don't get why those sprites are fireproof. I've changed that, and it didn't cause any glitches.

COFFEE COAST 2

This place looks kinda familiar.

Once again, I integrated a contest entry level. It's my VLDCX entry.

I know what you're gonna do, Mr. Koopa, and I won't let you do it. *destroys shell with a fireball*

I dont think that it is a very good sign that i cant even identify this submap from your other beach submaps.

The both levels also look very alike except that the second one has a few koopa shells lying around and layer 3 water. The music is glitching out in the video what and the event on the overworld is taking longer then it needs to take i think.

how about improving instead of doing the same over and over again for once?

This should make 2-2 a little different. I imagine having a tweaked palette won't take away from people's recognition of my VLDCX entry in the hack.

I'm not sure exactly what I can do about the music glitches. They seem to be a side-effect of the wall jump patch I'm using. I remember Mandew's Balloon Glider sprites causing oddities with the jump SFX in Early Years. I suppose I could take a look at the code and consult an ASMer if necessary.

@Gamma V: Nice use of the sunset palette for World 2-2! #smw{:TUP:}
The clouds look a bit weird with the sky imo, maybe you could also change them to be a bit more pinkish. I like the map as well but the water looks really flat, it could use some waves or little decorations (rocks and stuff). A bit more contrast on the sand palette to make the texture more visible would also be cool.

Otherwise this is looking nice so far, good work.
Thanks, Aeon.

After doing a bit of soul searching on the morality of ROM hacking again due to trying to fight my soda addiction, I finally decided to build the next level.

COFFEE COAST 3

There's a vine in one of these blocks.

Nice use of the Orange Ocean music for this level Gamma V! #smw{:TUP:}
Thanks, MKDSMaster.

After much procrastination, Christmas decorating, and attempts to catch the various Sonic Hacking Contest streams to see my entry being played, I finally got another level done.

COFFEE COAST 4

Did you really think I'd do a beach world without a water level?

I know Goomba-Generating Pipes are a thing, but what about BLURP-Generating Pipes?

To get in here, you need a P-Switch, which I already pressed before taking this screenshot.

Hey, this hack looks pretty cool. I especially like the giant flower platforms from the early levels. One problem I have is that the gravity-defying fireballs look really hard to kill short grounded enemies (like Goombas and Spinies) with. Maybe you could add some kind of midair control function to them?

--------------------
Disregard my previous signature. Apparently it is called Stickerbrush in the GBA version.
Okay, how have I missed posting in here? I knew about the hack already, but apparently I never actually commented on it. It looks pretty nice so far. The new physics and abilities ought to be interesting, and I think the design of 1-2 is probably my favorite.
@Fostelif: I don't know if I should insert another fireball physics patch over what I have in the ROM right now. As it is now, it probably could fix the complaint some people have about fireballs being overpowered.

@imamelia: Thanks

Welcome to the next level!

COFFEE SECRET 1

It's an underwater ruins level populated by various types of Lava Lotuses. These red ones will eat you if you get too close to them, killing you instantly a la Boss Bass.

Green ones will spit a single fireball in an arc. Whether it goes to the left or right is random. I didn't want to go with the standard SMB3 Lava Lotuses because they'd pretty much render the vanilla Volcano Lotuses redundant.

Small seaweeds can be pulled up like the grass clumps on land. Usually, they contain coins, but they can sometimes contain things like Koopa shells or even A-Coins.

Yellow Lava Lotuses will kill you on contact, just like the red ones, but feeding them a shell will turn them into either a pair of coins, an A-Coin, or even a P-Switch.

Underwater ruins...that looks nice.

Anyway, keep it up, dude! #thp{;)}

Your levels look really nice! I like the Volcano Lotuses you made and Blurp generators, and the ideas behind them. I also like how you used shells in the first underwater level as decorations and the seaweeds from the second one that hide some things, like shells or coins.

I think Coffee Coast 4 vanilla foreground looks kinda boring with the original palette and no decoration. I think you should change it. Did you forget to add powerups in Coffee Secret 1 or were they not shown on the video?

Other than that, I like how the hack's going!
Any reason as to why 7 Up has different logos in USA and the rest of the world?
I hope you use the yellow lotuses at least once more. They seem to be a nice little gimmick; maybe you could make them to turn into a key for a secret exit puzzle.

--------------------
take a look at my youtube thingies
@Rainbow Man: There are power-ups in Coffee Secret 1. You just don't see them in the video.

@KPals: I probably will use them again in another water level later in the game. I have a blue lotus set up, but not inserted, that shoots a freezing spore at Luigi. That would be great for a Sugar Snowfield water level.

COFFEE PIRATE SHIP

Obligatory pirate ship level in the beach/water world. Small barrels will spawn items if you press down while standing on them.

It's full of SMB2 enemies...

as well as Boomerang Bros.

A pair of Boomerang Bros. await you in the ship's cabin, serving as a sort of boss.

-Optimus Prime - G1 - Day of the Machines
The Pirate Ship level looks great
(not as fancier than that darn snail ship from Shantae: Half-Genie Hero)
, but I don't think that the "boss room" looks, uh...bland? Maybe try changing it (or not...)?

Anyways, good level! Keep it up! #thp{;)}
